Christians - Do you think Tom Cruise might be the...

AntiChrist? I've had that feeling for a while now. What do you think? I guess the 1 thing that disqualifies him is the fact that he's not from the revived Roman Empire.

I think it is important to point out that science has never proven anything.

The most accurate description of our world is the Word of God.

Numbers themselves are a very human thing, in fact they are really something intelligent beings must agree upon...they are not a dead reality.

Therefore God himself is alive...

Quote# 11559

[This man explains how overcrowding is a myth. In doing so he completely ignores certain things that include, but aren't limited to: Not every square-inch of land is easily inhabitable to humans. The MASSIVE amount of infrastructure and the space for it that is required to keep modern civilization afloat. The geopolitical, social, and psychological need for people to have plenty of room. The need for ecological preservation that is essential to our survival. etc. etc. I could go on, but I think I've made my point.]

Let's do the math. How many square yards are there in a square mile? You have 1,760 on a side, so multiply 1,760 by 1,760, the same way you would get nine square feet in a square yard by multiplying three by three. Use a calculator if you must. The answer is 3,097,600 square yards in a square mile. Then multiply by four, since we are putting four people in each square yard. You get 12,390,400 people per square mile. Chances are your town is a least one square mile in area. Did you know you could squeeze over 12 million people into it?

Now divide 12,390,400 into 6.4 billion to see how many square miles it would take to hold everybody. The answer is 532.67 square miles, or 533 rounded off. That's about a 23-mile square. Houston's area is 596 square miles, so you'd have an extra 60 square miles, room for another three quarters of a billion or so.

If you spread out, giving each person his own square yard and a folding chair, you could just about seat everyone in Delaware. If you gave everyone ten square yards (a 30-foot square, or 900 square feet -- a small apartment), you could fit all 6.4 billion people into Texas.

The point is simple. We've got room. Don't let the fear of overcrowding discourage you. And even if things get tight with unbelieving families, we could always use more Christian parents raising Christian kids, should they be saved.

[Someone remarks that they have been pondering an atheist's strong arguments against the existence of God, such as whether it is anymore rational to believe in an unfalsifiable God than an unfalsifiable invisible cat in a chair.]

You might want to stop hanging around with those people until you are stronger in your faith.

Jesus toguht against being Gay he never intended for man to be Gay and to go out and sleep with other men or women. I don't care if the Gay's have sex or not there still Gay right? then it is worng Christ did not intened on that to happen and I totally am against Gay's getting married espcially in a church becasue that is holy ground and God does not agree with Homosexuality he will never leave the person but he is not for people being Gay and all.

[Reply to a post asking Muslims, Christians and Jews to put their differences aside and work to make the world a better place]

Cant we all just get along?

Yes! In Christ! He is our peace!
Know Jesus, know peace; no Jesus, no peace....

BTW, "making the world a better place" in the way you're thinking is not the main goal of any of these religions....

[Cardinal wants Christians to take legal action against The Da Vinci Code]

Sometimes it is our duty to do something practical. So it is not I who will tell all Christians what to do but some know legal means which can be taken in order to get the other person to respect the rights of others. This is one of the fundamental human rights: that we should be respected, our religious beliefs respected, and our founder Jesus Christ respected.

Quote# 11520

I am saying that ethics is a subset of theology. Politics also is a subset of theology. All truth is God's truth. We have been created in the image of God. That is why murder is wrong. You might know "instinctively" that murder is wrong without thinking about the fact that you have been created in God's image, but the reason you think so still comes down to the fact that you have been created in God's image - whether you think about that or not.

[Title is literally: "ever wonder why Man was referred to as God? and woman as the earth? Why does only one sperm cell enter into the ovary and not more than one after that one? How is it that man's genital is like a hand planting the seed within the ground to cultivate life?"]

AS far as morality I dont think its evolving I see the morality of the world in a downward spiral, the gay and lesbian mafia pushing proaganda, abortion, people coming out with anti-Christian garbage like the da-vinci code. Girls getting pregnant at the age of 12. If you ask me back in the 20s,30s,40s, people had better morality and healthier family and holy values. I.E. Quote# 11524

I have been blessed with a most Godly daughter. She has been raised to love the Lord and she, as I, believes in the word of God. She has told me in no uncertain terms that she wishes she didn't live in the United States and that she had not been born in this century.

Her reasons, in part, are as follows:
[...]
She recently told me she wishes she lived in "one of those countries where girls and women can wear one of those things that would cover me up, Mom. You know, one of those things where boys and men can't see what my body looks like so they can stare at me or make rude comments to me about my breasts and stuff."

She was referring to a chardor, for crying out loud!

Wake up! This is a beautiful just-turned-eighteen year old girl! My daughter is as pure as driven snow, having been raised without the influence of Hollywood's garbage. We don't have television and don't want it. We don't go to the movies. She doesn't read the newpapers because she hates the bra and underwear ads in it.

And you wonder why a woman would want to "hide" behind a scarf!!! ????

Wake up.

WE have a couple of known quantities here that could add aup to something like that.

1) God is moving here to earth when the new heavens come and these temporary ones we live in pass forever away

2) The earth was made before the sun and every star in every galaxy that exists in and out of our sight.

Those are imutible solid facts we have to work with.

Quote# 11536

IF I WERE SATAN...

Of course, I would NOT want people to believe in God, but I especially would NOT want anyone to be "saved." So, if folks tended to believe in God for some silly reason (maybe because they actually believed the Bible), I would figure out a scheme to convince people that there is no God. Possibly some concept that says the universe and the earth and the people on the earth just came about by accident. I could say that man slowly evolved over millions of years and I'd call it "Evolution."

I would try to get the educational systems of the whole world to teach this brilliant theory of mine to the young folks as FACT so they would accept it without question. They would, of course, then presume that since there is no God, there is no higher authority to which to answer and no real reason to behave in some socially acceptable way. That evolution idea would claim they came from monkeys, so they could begin to act like monkies!

Quote# 11489

They are the same breed of people that keep *insisting* that this country was not found on Christian values (which fails to explain why the pilgrims left England over "religious intolerance" towards Protestants by the church of England).

[Sorry Captain History, but the pilgrims that came over in the 1600s did not found this country.]

Yes, but that was the one thing that was most important to them, and it endured. The freedom of religion was established because of how England wanted to force the protestants to comply. The seperation of church and state was made to keep the Government from controlling the church. There is no seperation of Mosque and state in the U.S. When you read the things that they were documented as saying, they weren't saying "In A God we trust...." They didn't refer to generic "God"...they said GOD.

Quote# 11502

[A post arguing that America was founded on Christianity that, or so he claims.]

You weren't alive when the revolution started, and neither was I, but I can see that it started changing because people started serving themselves, doing things that brought pleasure to themselves even if it was at someone else's expense. And they tried to justify it in their mind by saying that there is no God, that this whole "God" is a sham to make us feel bad for doing something wrong. That's the equivalent of a kid closing their eyes and telling themselves "there's not a man with a knife outside my door" when there really is one.... they can convince themselves that such a thing doesn't exist, but oops.... it really does.... and when that kid opens the door, they're in for a bad kind of surprise. I understand the draw to atheism... it'd be nice if I could just go around and have sex with any girl I ever felt drawn towards, and drink all the alcohol I wanted, and when I get bored with my wife, just leave her and cheat on her.... or whatever other "sin" you struggle with... it'd be nice to be able to do it without being guilty of anything, but you're doing nothing more than telling yourself that you have nothing to be guilty about. You might as well be listening to those tapes where it's all "repeat after me.... I am a good person..... I am important..... I am somebody..."
