(commenting on the film "The God Who Wasn't There")

I think it is quite simply the spirit of the anti-christ mentioned by Paul and John in the New Testament. If you can claim that the Christ didn't come and get a multitude to believe it you pave the way for a new christ.

(I have never understood how loving someone is a sin JUST because they are the same sex as you... Why would "god" put homosexuals on this planet if he was just planning on sending them to hell anyways?)

How do you mean?

Love, like homosex waiting in prisons for the next bus load of newbie "recruits?"

Do you mean Eros, like short-lived sexual relationships?''

Or, like "married" homosexs who experience 10-16 unprotected sexual encounters annually? (pun intented)

(What's happening in my bedroom shouldn't be anyones concern other than my own.
You can have your God that threatens with hell fire...I will have my merciful, loving God.)

I'm sorry; I must dissent on this one. Being born with a genetic predisposition is not a sin, but choosing to follow is. Choosing to live as homosexual, a murderer, thief, adulterer, and choosing to live in pride, lust, and hate are all sins (along with a huge list of other sins as well). However, Christ has the power to resist all sin and did so, along with being willing to sacrifice Himself and shed His blood on the cross to forgive us of our sins. How can a loving God not show us mercy if we are not willing to change? How can a truly loving God allow to continue walking in sin. Yes, you are right that it is none of our business (with the exception that no one is being hurt and that we are not being forced to say it's right), but it is God's business.

[an agnostic fundie?!]

The fact that you are an agnostic (as I am) should not prevent you from believing that Christianity is superior to other religions. Such a position can easily be argued from the facts, for example, that Christianity was deeply involved in the rise of empirical and formal science. There's plenty of research on that. The historian Philippe Nemo has recently argued that some of what we strongly value in the West, such as democracy, is ultimately owed to late Mediaeval Catholicism. Superiority of religion should not of course be confused with superiority of devotees: the best behaved group historically seems to be Jews (compared to Moslems and Christians).
Christianity is of course a universal missionary monotheism. It is because of an enduring yet adapting Christianity that we have any civilisation at all on this planet. Out of all the thousands of religions and cults that have existed, one had to be better than any of the others. Christianity came first by many leagues. If there are evolutionary principles underpinning human society and its competitive religions then the fact of mighty Christianity is the best argument for evolution ever.

"Did darwinism introduce cross dressers?

Ann Coulter says a frustrated Darwiniac resorts to an occasional outbursts regarding flat earth. This is done by taking a pet definition of "foundation".

The cross dressers as shown in google wear corsets as foundations. Is Darwinisms hatching of a definition of foundation really referring to a girdle?

The Mother earth wearing a girdle? Not very natural. There is no limit to the imagination of Darwinists."

This statement ought to leave you shaking in your shoes: "I hate to admit that you are right. To think that Christ is the son of THAT God, that God which doesn't change, is almost unfathomable. The overkill and ironic absence of Christian values that permeate the OT, is indeed a dilemma to any intellectually honest believer. We have no reasoned answer..."

You will give an account for those words before God, sir. REPENT!!!

One thing and possibly the only thing the Bible contradicts—is those who look for and want to find contradictions in the Bible.

1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

The Bible, not once, tells us to disprove anything.

I hope the Christian community will not be a party to this thread.

Quote# 25514

If evolution were real...

...we probably wouldn't exist. Think about it. If there was no God...what would be the point of developing the wide variety of emotions that humans have? I mean, our emotions, a lot of times, don't lend well to the survival of our species. People are thinkers that can choose not to have children, have only a few, take a few years break in between having children, etc.

An animal that is able to reproduce will always do so if given the chance - even if reproduction always results in death for the mother, father, or both!

If humans thought like animals, we'd all have a baby every year with the first available person regardless of circumstances because survival of the species is most important.

Of course God commands us to be fruitful and multiply but...well, if our complex emotions actually decrease our productivity as a species...what's the point? To make us closer to God! God gave us the gift of emotion (not that animals don't have emotions, but not like humans of course) to make humans - made in His image - distinctly separate from the other creatures of the Earth. That's proof enough of God for me! PTL!

Quote# 25516

That's just it, atheists want 100% physical proof that God exists. Well, you can see it in nature, you can see it in the human body because there is no way the intelligent design of life can be seen any other way than God, you simply just don't buy it. That proof simply is not good enough for you. If Christ walked up, tapped you on the shoulder and told you He was Christ, you still wouldn't believe it, correct? Because you would not think it was Him.
There are tons more ways to talk to unsaved people without having to prove logic. Believers know that beyond the physical world and what is around us that it is difficult to prove God, we base most of what we believe on faith because things just don't add up otherwise.

Quite the contrary. When you joined, you did, in a very limited way, submit yourself to my authority within the scope this forum. In addition, I have been called by God and commissioned by my church to preach the Gospel. God tends to frown on those who disparage His anointed. Psa 105:14-15 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; (15) Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

Note the Satanic significance of the scene and the hand gestures used by Cleese. The whole thing reeks of Masonic signs, gestures and secret messages to unstable members of the audience. it is no secret that both Graham Chadman and Terri JOnes were notorios gays. John Cleese and Terri Gillam drug users and alcoholic. They are wrecks of human beings and unchristian.

A) How do you know it is a detrimental genetic defect and not a future benefit?

B) Stem cell research currently involves injuring eggs with needles. These injuries go on to have a major negative impact on the growth of the eggs. This will be demonstrated by the advent of the Beast, a child created with a needle (see "sword" in Revelation 12) who will rule the world with evil.

[Emphasis added]

On the other hand, the standardized tests (both placement and end-of-grade) are constantly being 'dumbed-down' so as to allow those in the public schools to feel like they are succeding. In the real world, many end up becomming people who do not have the common sense to get out of a city which is below sea level and in the path of a catagory 5 hurricane (New Orleans).

We have already addressed the Biblical admonshments from the Word of God to the parents to train their children. But then, if the Word of God admonishes you to do something, do you really care?

I really could go on and on, but I will not. The bottom line is that the publik skools are failing in every way. Yes, there are some who train their children who do a poor job of it. I know some. They are in the minority of the homeschoolers. By contrast, those who excel in the publik skools are in the minority.

I will agree with you and Mrs. Debbie. There is an annoying spelling problem here. Other than the occasional typo or mistake, there are some who seem to use shorthand, or who just do not take the time and effort to try to spell correctly. This shows that they are lazy! It is also a very poor testimony. They need to do a better job with their spelling and grammar.

Conversely, Sarai, it is not your job to point out every little minuscule error you can find. I am certain that you have not been promoted to the job of Holy Spirit and you are not an authority in my life.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who corupts a child should be put to death at once. This is more than just political corectness, it's about their souls. If they grow up with those kind of ideas in their heads, it will be hard , if not imposible to lead them to Christ. God loves children, and let's not forget that one of the reasons he destroyed Israel was beaucose they sacrificed their kids. What those people are doing is they are sacrificing those kid's minds to Satan. An I for one, don't want to be in their shoes when God will ask them what they've done. We need to stop with the whole christian tolerance and start percecuting those who corupt the minds of kids. I'm all for locking them in concentration camps. Anyone who keeps a child from comming to Christ and having his sins washed doesn't deserve to live!
