EKET, Nigeria (AFP) – Jeremiah, 10, stares blankly at a window, tears rolling down his burn-scarred cheeks recounting how his father doused him with petrol and set him ablaze accusing him of witchcraft.

He is just one of hundreds of children in southern Nigeria's Niger Delta oil region thrown out of their homes, tortured or even killed after they are branded witches by a new crop of self-styled religious leaders.

Around a dozen phony pastors have been arrested -- one on murder charges after he confessed in a documentary film to having killed 110 child witches. He now says he killed only the witches inside the children, not the children themselves.

At a centre in Eket, Akwa Ibom's oil town, Jeremiah and over 170 other children -- aged between 18 months and 16 years -- have sought or been brought to emergency shelter. Many bear scars of physical torture -- machete cuts, burns or a nail drilled into the head.

It has been more than a year since Jeremiah fled from his home, but he suffered months of abuse at the hands of his parents after he was accused of sorcery.

"We were having a revival at church one night when from nowhere, the pastor's wife stood up to say I was a witch," recounts Jeremiah.

He was immediately locked up at the pastor's house, starved and assaulted with clubs as part of the exorcism exercise.

When he moved back home his father tied a noose around his neck and led him to a nearby school grounds, but apparently developed cold feet.

In minute detail he recounts how over several weeks, his parents locked him up in a room and starved and flogged him. That was before the father torched him, accusing him of being behind his losing a job with an oil firm.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 52ND OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

THAT the Oklahoma House of Representative strongly opposes the invitation to speak on the campus of the University of Oklahoma to Richard Dawkins of Oxford University, whose published statements on the theory of evolution and opinion about those who do not believe in the theory are contrary and offensive to the views and opinions of most citizens of Oklahoma.

THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives encourages the University of Oklahoma to engage in an open, dignified, and fair discussion of the Darwinian theory of evolution and all other scientific theories which is the approach that a public institution should be engaged in and which represents the desire and interest of the citizens of Oklahoma.

Did you know that in many of the American colonies, people were required by law to attend church?
In Virginia in the early 1600s everyone was required to attend morning and evening services. They were also watched closely by church leaders. I bet they behaved themselfs a lot better than ppl today do.

I would like to see us get back to this type of governance.

Barack Obama does not derive his authority from the citizens of the United States of America. He is president because God has chosen to judge our country by giving us a leader that is almost as wicked as we deserve. Obama has authority because God gave it to him.

[Responding to the question "Tell us why you are for or against gay marriage"]
It is bad enough that these people show affection out in public. Giving them rights is wrong, morally, and spiritually. All we need is that these people marry and start buying babies to raise them in their image. Not just no, hell no!

Why I hate Atheists.
Because they ALWAYS change their tunes on their deathbeds like the p.u.s.s.i.e.s they are. I respect them more if they stood their ground - what, you're gonna let the slight possibility of eternal hellfire, change your mind??? A guy I know was chief surgeon in a New England hospital, and says he never met a dying atheist - figures - they're all fraidy cat hotos.

A nine-year-old girl who was carrying twins, allegedly after being raped by her stepfather, has undergone an abortion despite complaints from Brazil's Catholic Church...

... Marcio Miranda, a lawyer for the Archdiocese of Olinda and Recife in north-eastern Brazil, said the girl should have carried the twins
to term and had a caesarean section.

"It's the law of God: do not kill. We consider this murder," Ms Miranda said in comments reported by O Globo.

Quote# 60200

First off, I don't even really like the term ''sex change'', because no matter how much surgery is done to make you look like the opposite sex, you will ALWAYS be the gender you were born as. There is no changing that.

Trying to change your gender is a disgrace to the Creator, as you were born as your gender for a reason. People who say that their soul is misplaced in the wrong body are wrong. Mistakes like that simply no not happen.

And also, what if someone got surgery to change their genitals to those of the opposite gender and convinced someone they wanted to date that they really were that gender? That person would be unknowingly dating someone of the same gender, and that is, IMO, an abomination. Not the fact they are both the same gender, but the fact that one of them thinks they're dating someone of the opposite gender when they're really not. THAT is the abomination.

Poet's shrine bombed over female visitors

Suspected militants have blown up the mausoleum of a 17th century poet revered in both Pakistan and Afghanistan, apparently because women visited the shrine.

The ethnic Pashtun poet, Abdul Rehman, is commonly known as Rehman Baba, and is loved by Pashtuns for his mystical verse.

People regularly go to his white, marble mausoleum on the outskirts of the north-western Pakistani city of Peshawar to pay their respects, but no-one was hurt in the pre-dawn blast.

"The structure of the shrine has been badly damaged but there were no casualties," police officer Zar Noor said.

Militants had warned people to stop women visiting the shrine, a resident told DawnNews television.

Militants have been stepping up attacks in Pakistan in recent years, especially in the Pashtun-dominated north-west.

As well as battling the security forces, the militants in many areas have tried to stamp out what they see as inappropriate practices such as music and dancing.

Radical Muslims such as the Taliban also consider paying homage at graves to be heretical.

Quote# 60194

"Raising the Dead is no more difficult than any other type of ministry.
It's simply a matter of faith and obedience.
I have heard testimonies in person from several men who have raised the dead. Don Jones, Henry Hinn, and David Hogan. There are others I've heard on tape: Calvin Simmons and Moses Ewo. And I've heard the testimony of Howard Pittman, in person, and Marvin Ford on tape, men who were raised from the dead. I'm waiting for my chance.
Be open to the possibility. When you are presented with an opportunity to raise the dead, seek the Lord for his mind in the matter. Pray as He directs [in some cases it takes a long time], do as he instructs and, of course, give Him all the Glory "

[Retired barber, tired of hearing about Kosher salt, decides to market Christian salt]

Godlewski said his salt, packaged in containers bearing bright red crosses, has at least as much flavor and beneficial minerals as kosher salt - and it's for a good cause.

"The fact is, it helps Christians and Christian charities," he said. "This is about keeping Christianity in front of the public so that it doesn't die. I want to keep Christianity on the table, in the household, however I can do it."

I often find myself immersed in the filth that characterizes the obscene on sites like this. You of course are free to hold any belief you want. You should not have the right to force that belief upon others, thus infecting them, violating them, humiliating them, destroying the hope of those whose only desire is to live to see their children marry and then have children of their own.

As Christ accepts God as His head, so should every man accept Christ as his head. Likewise, woman should representatively accept man as her head. In covering the head, the woman signifies that she is not head, that she is as if she has no head - for it is covered....

Quote# 60169

Look in the mirror pal, the problem doesn't lie with theists, but with atheists themselves.

Atheism is a mental illness that can only be treated biologically. It's sort of an autistic, schizophrenia with some components of bipolar disorder, marked with narcissism and Tourette’s syndrome.

The core of an atheist's thinking is the same sort of pathology that characterizes other mental disorders. They have a glitch in their brains
that produces feelings of superiority over which they have no control.

The next time you’re watching or listening to an atheist, observe the symptoms… Note the anger, the pessimism, the negativity, the name-calling, the bursts of rage, the gratuitous insults, and the desire to present an image of superiority over Christians.

[The following exchange orignally appeared on the Home Living Helper blog, run by Lydia Sherman. Note: It is not currently hosted on that site, but rather a site which posted a comment evicerating it. So don't go banging on their door about it guys, Distind]

[Carla, a commenter, says]: “I’m sure you have been watching scenes from Katrina victims. I kept hoping I would see some lady fleeing the hurricane in clothes which looked presentable. Instead, the images I was presented were almost uniformly an ugly tee-shirt combined with these big shorts. Can you imagine having only those clothes on your back and nothing else? When will the women of our country wake up? No wonder marriages are falling apart.”

[Lydia, the blog owner, responds]: “What does the phrase ‘die with dignity’ mean to us? We have let the modernists liberal define this for us, making it completely contrary to real dignity. I’ve heard people say “I wouldn’t be caught dead in that outfit.” As a people, we used to be concerned with the impression and the influence we left others at our passing. I’m not suggesting we get all dressed up for a hurricane, but if those clothes which provide dignity and coverings are the only thing in our closets and the only thing available to us, we won’t be caught in a storm with the big shorts, saggy tee shirts and flip-flops. Tragedies always bring scenes of ripped and dirty clothing, but I think it is very telling about our morals and values when we allow our women to trapse about in nothing but garments that would have been underwear a hundred years ago.”

Quote# 60153

A police lieutenant who once reported seeing a "demon" at police headquarters is suing to get his gun and shield back, claiming supervisors took them from him because of his religious practices.

...Maglione, 44, acknowledged in interviews with psychiatrists after he was admitted to a hospital 2 1/2 years ago that he was praying as much as 10 hours at a stretch and fasting twice a week, court papers say.

At the hospital, Maglione told a medical professional that he had seen a demon at police headquarters, according to a police board medical report dated Dec. 19, 2008, that was included with Maglione's court papers.

The report also says the lieutenant lost 40 pounds in six months by fasting, and urinated on himself because he refused to stop praying to go to the bathroom.

The medical board report said there are "significant psychological findings precluding the officer from performing the full duties of a New York City police officer."

"The Medical Board believes that the lieutenant cannot be allowed to be in possession of any weapons since he feels subject to God's will to do what God wants him to do even if he destroys himself," the report says.

Quote# 60157

If music without drums, syncopation, or a rock beat is acceptable music, then “Yesterday” by the Beatles would be suitable for a Christian. This song has no drums, syncopation, or rock n roll beat – so what’s wrong with it? It doesn’t talk about drugs, illicit behavior, or violence – so what’s wrong with it? What’s wrong with it is the source. It was written by God-hating communist devils. Rock n roll music was pioneered by ungodly sinners like Little Richard, a sodomite filthy animal, and Ray Charles, a heroin addict. The source of rock n roll music is ungodly.

Tonight as my husband and I were leaving our house to go into town, we noticed a very bright light. Looked up and saw the crescent moon and this huge light next to it. It was so big and bright we were not sure what it was, I got so excited that it might be Jesus getting ready to call us up that I got all excited. Alas.....it was just another hopeful moment, and beautiful sight. But the senses are going into full expectation that it will be soon, very soon. Halleluja!!!!
