"Space opera: having to do with time periods on the whole track millions of years ago which concerned activities in this and other galaxies. Space opera has space travel, spaceships, spacemen, intergalactic travel, wars, conflicts, other beings, civilizations and societies, and other planets and galaxies. It is not fiction and concerns actual incidents and things that occurred on the track."

Quote# 55404

The Titanic was built in Northern Ireland and it was claimed that the ship was so big that even God wouldn't sink it.

Most people don't know that a protestant worker wrote on the side of the hull ( so it would be under the waterline), to Hell with the Pope.

Co-incidence is God's way of staying anonymous.

Quote# 55344

God is the head of this nation and I think this is tough for some atheist and secularist to grasp.

We get our God given rights from our Creator and the government is set up as a secondary appendage to protect those God given rights but the government gets it's power from the people and not the other way around.

I think this is why you see this split.

Many liberals, atheist and secularist don't believe in God so are rights come from the state. This means the government is almighty and they push for a nanny state.

Most Conservatives have a belief in God and they want less government and more individual control because they believe our individual rights come from our Creator and government is there to protect our rights.

The question is if your rights do not come from a Creator then where do your rights as an individual come from?

If there's no God, then you have no rights except those that other men want to give you.

Quote# 55142

"The Three Myths
About Homosexuality

Myth #1

Homosexuality is normal and biologically determined.

The truth...

There is no scientific research indicating a biological or genetic cause for homosexuality. Biological factors may play a role in the predisposition to homosexuality. However, this is true of many other psychological conditions. Research suggests that social and psychological factors are strongly influential. Examples include problems in early family relationships, sexual seduction, and sense of inadequacy with same-sex peers, with resulting disturbance in gender identity. Society can also influence a sexually questioning youth when it encourages gay self-labeling.

Myth #2

Homosexuals cannot change, and if they try, they will suffer great emotional distress and become suicidal. Therefore, treatment to change homosexuality must be stopped.

The truth...
Psychotherapists around the world who treat homosexuals report that significant numbers of their clients have experienced substantial healing. Change has come through psychological therapy, spirituality, and ex-gay support groups. Whether leading married or committed celibate lives, many report that their homosexual feelings have diminished greatly, and do not trouble them as much as they had in the past.

The keys to change are desire, persistence, and a willingness to investigate the conscious and unconscious conflicts from which the condition originated. Change comes slowly, usually over several years. Clients learn how to meet their needs for same-sex nurturance and affirmation without eroticizing the relationship. As they grow into their heterosexual potential, men and women typically experience a deeper and fuller sense of themselves as male or female.

If some homosexuals do not wish to change, that is their choice, yet it is profoundly sad that gay-rights activists struggle against the right-to-treatment for other homosexuals who yearn for freedom from their attractions.

Myth #3
We must teach our children that homosexuality is as normal and healthy as heterosexuality. Teenagers should be encouraged to celebrate their same-sex attractions.
The truth...
Scientific research supports age-old cultural norms that homosexuality is not a healthy, natural alternative to heterosexuality. Research shows that gay teens are especially vulnerable to substance abuse and early, high-risk sexual behavior. It does far more harm than good to tell a teenager that his or her attractions toward members of the same sex are normal and desirable. Teens in this position need understanding and counseling, not a push in the direction of a potentially deadly lifestyle.
A 1992 study in Pediatrics found that 25.9% of 12-year-olds are uncertain if they are gay or straight. The teen years are critical to the question of self-labeling, so the facts must be presented in our schools in a fair and balanced manner."

Quote# 55143

[In response to an Onion AV article talking about how Kirk Cameron will only kiss his wife on the set. Someone think's he's a fool.]

I, for one, am very sick of this anti-Christianity attitude that is present on the AV Club. Kirk Cameron is an accomplished actor who has made a second career for himself doing the Lord's work, and I think that is more than can be said for most of the losers who frequent this board. Most of you are undoubtedly unrepentant sinners and homosexuals who will one day find themselves roasting in a lake of fire, and on that day (and the eternity of days following) you will wish that you had listened to the wisdom offered by a certain former-child star from the 1980s.

And those of you who always trot out that banana thing- the fact is that Comfort's point and logic were sound even if the specific example he cited can be interpreted in a different way by those whose minds are clouded by the obfuscations and lies of the devil.

Quote# 55168

Calling it an embryo or fetus is just a way to dehumanize a baby and make it okay in women's minds to have an abortion. It allows them to say, "I'm aborting a fetus, not killing a baby." (And I know this from personal experience.) Finally, it's a woman's personal choice to have an abortion or not, but what about the baby? Doesn't it matter if that child wants to live? If the Democrats want to talk about human rights, why don't they start with the rights of unborn humans.

So please tell me why YOU believe that "Observed Cases of Speciation or Transitional Fossils" proves that Evolution is true. Pls use you own words, not someone else's "if evolution is crap, where's your proof that creationism is valid?" By default. Since only ONE of these could POSSIBLY be true, any evidence to disprove one makes that other look plausible.

Quote# 55309

The numbers of religions that are teaming up with science all have some things in common.

1) They do not believe in the God of the Bible.

2) If they do believe in God, they have to renounce any part that conflicts with science and their theories.

3). They all have to accept evolution and not creation, or at least accept the time period science claims it took for everything to come into existence.

4) They cannot question science with their beliefs. But science can question their beliefs.

5) The religions that accept science usually have written in their belief that Christians are heretics and in some cases are to be killed. Science welcomes these religions with open arms.

Quote# 55157

Quote from: pmq on December 16, 2008, 11:48:59 PM
I wish I knew more about history. What I can remember from school is one major reason for declaring independence was for the freedom of religion. I don't know how anyone can prove which religion each of the founding fathers ascribed to. I think the point was simply that as a majority they WERE religious.

Freedom of the press, freedom of religion and freedom of speech - These are (again) under attack largely by the same sources due to infiltration. This country was birthed from the protestant reformation which is why we were initially set up as a constitutional republic, with inalienable rights. If you want to more fully understand what is happening today, look at history (and Bible prophecy.)

Quote# 55258

Responsible pot smokers is an oxymoron in my opinion.

Possession of pot is a misdemeanor, unless you have a large quantity and intend to sell it.

Purchasing pot puts money in the pockets of drug cartels. So, anybody who thinks casual pot smoking is ok, is sadly mistaken.

Look up the effects of THC and what it does to your brain. Very destructive.

Why any Christian would think that GETTING HIGH is ok, is totally beyond me.
And where do you draw the line? Is dipping a joint in PCP ok too? What about smoking opium or hash? If smoking pot is ok, then surely opium and hash is ok too, right?

It destroys your Christian witness.

Would you smoke pot in front of your children? Would you allow your children to smoke it?

Would you offer a toke to your pastor?

There's absolutely no way a Christian can justify getting high.

All drugs are demonic in origin and it's one more thing Satan uses to suck you down and steal your soul. Drugs are linked to sorcery.

I'm shocked and appalled by the number of posters who claim to know "responsible and successful" pot smokers.

There's nothing responsible about it. It shows a weakness in their character.

Why do people smoke it? To get high. To relax. To de-stress. To help them cope with their problems. I call that a crutch. And I call that a lack of faith. When I'm having problems, I don't turn to pot....I get on my knees and turn to Jesus.

Quote# 55197

You want proof for the existence of God, here are a few:

1. Israel - God said that they will always be a people once He brought them into existence and they have been. They are here today even though many atheists have tried to destroy them (Stalin as one example).

2. The over 300 Old Testament prophecies (some written 1500 years before His birth) of the first Advent of Jesus Christ. Could not be a coincidence because we do not have a number large enough to show the odds against all of them being fulfilled in One person.

3. The resurrection - yes the one with Christ Himself but also the one that I experienced. I was spiritually dead in my sins (a slave to sin) and God brought me to life (changed my life and set me free from slavery to sin).

Three real proofs, now go ahead and hit your knees in repentance (agree that God is right and you are wrong).

By the way God does not hear the prayers of non-Christians (with the exception of their first prayer of repentance).

Quote# 55327

[Randal Terry of Operation Rescue, attacks his own son who did a coming out story for Out magazine.]

For me, the most horrifying part of the story is my son's admission: "I did have numerous sexual encounters with my friends, usually during sleepovers at my parents' house" and "I was home from boarding school in my old bedroom at my parents' house in Windsor, N.Y., where my friend 'Johnny' and I had just finished fooling around ... we had been having sex for ages. ..."

I am so grieved and sorry for those boys and their parents. Those parents trusted us; they believed their sons were safe at our home – so had I. I was wrong. I still am in a state of shock. Please, parents, learn from this tragedy.

Quote# 55360

This year, I believe my triumph over this synthetic holiday is nearly complete. The only mentions of Kwanzaa I've seen are humorous ones. Most important, for the first time in eight years, President George Bush appears not to have issued "Kwanzaa greetings" to honor this phony non-Christian holiday that is younger than I am...

...(Sing to "Jingle Bells")
Kwanzaa bells, dashikis sell
Whitey has to pay;
Burning, shooting, oh what fun
On this made-up holiday!

Kwanzaa itself is a nutty blend of schmaltzy '60s rhetoric, black racism and Marxism.

(In response to a question about slavery in the bible, and why God would condone it. Scroll down to find it.)

when a person becomes a slave that means they lost there right to be a human

like when the Africans became slaves, that’s because there Tec was far to primitive to have any hope of fighting the god like Europeans. if the euros did not enslave them then they still would be dancing around fire

so in retrospect slavery was a very, very good thing

also god likes the strong, he does not pitty the weak

[On a video about the big bang theory]

I could not agree more. Its one big fairy tale to get rid of a creator. Some people hate God with so much passion they invent bs like this and then get other God hating people to believe in it too. I love the big question mark floating around between 1.29-1.59. How can people be so stupid to believe this lie? I think I have an answer. The big bang theorist says...I hate God and do not want to be accountable to Him so I will believe in this theory to escape His Judgement. Sorry you wont escape!

[awkward formatting original]

It is evident on this website that many claim to have been once "christians".

They are all liars, and will prove themselves to be so.

Jesus, the author and finisher of the faith said:

"If God were your Father , ye would love me...."

(John 8:42)

Not one of these so called "former christians" have ever, or will ever, express why they once loved Jesus?

Because they never did.

Proving by their own manifest lack of love for Him that they never believed Him to begin with.

Privately Katie Couric sits in her prep room staring off in the distance ...recalling her interview with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. In haunting detail she recalls the joy and peace in Palins life and the instant awareness that the Palin family is now missing. Katie knows in heart that despite years of her rebellion towards God she has known all along that what she heard years ago in vacation bible school....that yes indeed the BIBLE was and IS the WORD OF GOD.
