“Mat 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
Yeah, I remember Carter’s Playboy interview. Still voted for him.
“Jesus is plainly saying that if a man looks at a woman and lusts after her, he has committed adultery with her already.”
So glad you translated that for our benefit… Couldn’t have parsed it without you.
I mean, you COULD have just said, “He speaks plainly.” But you went the extra mile to… repeat it.
So dedicated.
“One of the definitions of 'with' is: So as to be touching or joined to.”
Yeah, but the hard line fact of the matter is that my wife allows me to look. We were both sailors and she knows (some of) what goes on in a liberty port. I can look at strippers without getting divorced.
Her line was touching. If i touched a stripper, then I had to burn any part of my body off that had touched another woman before I went home.
And thinking of her does not actually violate the no-touching rule.
“The clear point is that Jesus is saying they are both guilty of adultery.”
Why is the woman guilty of adultery if she is NOT looking at me with lust in her heart? This makes no sense. I mean, unless you’re a chauvinist pig and blame women for your lack of self-control… Oh.
“The reason for the man's guilt is obvious. The woman's guilt is not as clear. She has set a trap for him - she has enticed him.”
Not every woman I’ve looked at and found attractive has been trying to seduce me. Or even to excite me. OR even to interest me. Some, like coworkers at my business, or senior officers when I was in the Navy, just want both of us to do a job.
You’re just being sexist.
“Now, the sad thing is: the average, seemingly moral high school girl is more revealing in her attire than the harlot of Proverbs 7.”
When I was in 8th grade, my parents divorced and my mother moved to Atlanta.
When I was in 11th grade, she and her boyfriend decided that I had to have the experience of seeing prostitutes in their natural habitat.
I don’t know why they thought that we didn’t have prostitutes in Idaho, and they didn’t seem to see any as we drove around downtown.
I saw a BUNCH of prostitutes. To me, their dress was not just provocative, it was a clear ‘come here and fuck me’ advertisement. Not at all like the girls… okay, most of the girls in my high school. The intention was clear. As opposed to you just seeing skin and blaming the girl for your hard-on. Naughty, naughty, brother randy.
Later, in the Navy, I saw WAY more prostitutes and the clear intent of their costuming was more pronounced in direct proportion to the proximity of the Naval base.
But I could definitely tell the difference between hookers in Charleston and college girls on the beach in Cocoa Beach. Your perversion may vary.
“Even more sad is the fact that these girls are causing men around them to commit adultery with them by the way they dress.”
No they are not.
Men will fantasize about a woman no matter what she’s wearing, if they find anything attractive at all. I’ve known some hot nuns, too.
But you can’t admit to any guilt about your own feelings, so you blame the women.
Doubt it’d fool God,buddy.
