Evolutionists: How strong is your faith in the theory of macro-evolution?
This is a hypothetical scenario. Say someone had invented a time machine and had proof of the origin of life on this planet. Would you bet your life that the theory of macro-evolution is true? It's like, if they had a film and before you got to see it you had to agree that if you were wrong you had to go and be executed would you bet your life on this theory in order to see the film?
Or would you say "Well, I believe it's true but I'm not going to risk my life just to see if this film shows me whether I'm right or not."

Christians: How strong is your faith in your religion?
Hypothetical scenario. Say someone has a way to send you directly to the afterlife right now. Would you be willing to take them up on this offer, or would you be hesitant, unsure whether you have picked the right brand of Christianity?
Or would you say, "No, my faith isn't strong enough."
"if you were wrong you had to go and be executed"
Your church has you TERRIFIED to believe in evolution, doesn't it? I don't know who to be angry at, your church for being so manipulative and controlling of you, or you for being such a pussy that you let them do it.
"Would you bet your life that the theory of macro-evolution is true?"
Not really, because I don't believe in logical fallacies.
What's so horrible about this is that it's based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of scientific inquiry. Personally, I would bet my life on the validity of evolution, but that isn't his point--he's making it look like a religious conviction, which it isn't. It is a hypothesis which scientists have been earnestly testing for one hundred and fifty years. TESTED--that's the key. Science doesn't assert that something is definitely or unquestionably true; only that it is true to the best of our current understanding, which is continuously redefined as technology and other factors progress. That's what these people don't get.
Only if you had to make a similar wager stating that you would allow yourself to be killed if, in fact, evolution was true.
Once we came back out of the time machine, evolution proved, I would then have mercy on you and not allow you to be killed.
I would, but I'll never have to.
The only person who would demand that wager before seeing the film would be a Christian Fundamentalist, and if they had filmed evidence of evolution they would have destroyed it before returning. Then upon returning they would claim that time travel is of the devil and demand that all time machines be decommissioned and destroyed.
The quote fails before it even begins. The words macro-evolution and micro-evolution have become obsolete.
"...would you bet your life on this theory in order to see the film?"
I would, but only if the film was judged by an unbiased board or biologists, not by idiotic Christian creation-fundies. Those guys would probably be biased against me, conclude that evolution did not happen and would feel pleasure to see me die, knowing that I would go to hell for eternity.
This whole assertion doesn't even make sense. Why would someone bet his life on evolution in the first place? Evolution is not a religion.
...had proof of the origin of life on this planet.
This is abiogenesis, which has NOTHING to do with evolution. So your hypothetical scenario crashes and burns right at the start.
I'd rather bet my life on a theory backed up by 150 years of scientific support than a superstition backed up by a book of myths and a sad lack of education.
"It's like, if they had a film and before you got to see it you had to agree that if you were wrong you had to go and be executed would you bet your life on this theory in order to see the film?"
That's a very bad analogy. Now go and sit in the corner and sulk like a wet sponge.
Solid evidence of Special Creation would, indeed, convince me of its veracity. As it stands, the only real evidence we have supports evolution. By which I mean geology, genetics, cosmology and archeology, the closest thing we have to a "time machine."
Or would you say "Well, I believe it's true but I'm not going to risk my life just to see if this film shows me whether I'm right or not."
I wouldn't even if I knew what was on that film. Ones life is more important than some opinion or view.
But since your religion states that life (on this planet) is worthless...
"Would you bet your life that the theory of macro-evolution is true?"
No, because only Jeeboids and other losers would bet their lives just to see their silly-assed assertions proven. I've got things to live for.
Honestly, anyone who would be willing to bet their life that a particular theory is correct would make a terrible scientist. There is a huge amount of evidence that the theory of evolution is correct, even so, any reasonable person should be willing to accept the possibility that it is not correct, that's just the way science works.
Confused?
