This kind of attitude leaves us vulnerable to Big Brother. Just because what I'm doing is considered okay by Big Brother NOW does not mean that it will always be this way. As a Christian I am deeply concerned about the erosion of religious liberty in the U.S. over recent years, and am not hopeful for the future. I pray that I will never see Christianity outlawed during my lifetime, but it wouldn't surprise me if that happened eventually.

"Erosion of religious liberty?"
Please explain to me, in a country where 75% of the population is Christian, exactly which religious liberties have you lost?
I am deeply concerned about the erosion of religious liberty in the U.S.
Correction: You're deeply concerned about the erosion of special Christian rights in the U.S. You don't give two shits about the religious liberty of anyone who's not a Christian.
Not to worry. Current trends suggest that Christianity is in no danger of being outlawed in the USA. Rather, it is being pushed to the sidelines and ignored. People they are coming to realize that you're too unimportant to pay attention to, positively or negatively.
Now, don't you feel better?
Christianity will never be outlawed in America. Also there has not been an erosion of religious liberties. Remember that your religion even if you think it's the only right one is not the only religion and all religions have equal 'religious liberties."
Besides when your idea of religious liberties is having more rights then another group then that is not okay. That is what Christians want and why they complain. They are not an oppressed minority they are a majority mad that they can't oppress minorities the way they use to.
Your side IS big brother.
Well, as a fundie Christian, you must be used to live under a Big Brother. Having a secular one instead of a supernatural one won't make that much a difference, will it?
Sweden is one of the most secular nations in the world. Christianity is not outlawded here; as a matter of fact, it seems to gain in strenght, and women's rights are more and more threatened.
That's about as likely as seeing Islam outlawed in Iran. This country is so religious you can't even RUN as an atheist in most parts of it, let alone win. It's so religious that facts of freaking science are "under debate" and not accepted by the majority. It's so religious that over 30 states have Constitutionally banned gay marriage when even super Catholic countries in South America have legalized it. America is the Mecca of mega churches and televangelists.
Where in the hell do you get these ideas?
So, lawmakers, 99%+ who are Christians are going to outlaw your religion, huh? That's funny.
You want to talk about erosion of religious liberty? What about the native people's religion? Do you feel their religious rights were eroded?
Summary: you think your religion should get special privileges over all the rest. When it doesn't, you feel persecuted.
You're a whiny little wussy bitch.
The day the US outlaws Christianity is the day India outlaws Hinduism, Israel outlaws Judaism, and Saudi Arabia outlaws Islam, i.e. when the Rapture comes i.e. NEVER
I pray that I will never see Christianity outlawed during my lifetime
Don't worry sweetie. You'll still be able to worship your christian god all the same. You see, this whole religious liberty thing means you can't force your beliefs on the rest of society.
Considering how religious the USA is and how influential it is in our culture and politics, I seriously doubt Christianity would be outlawed anytime soon. In fact, it's unconstitutional to outlaw any religion or ability to follow them in this country anyway. First amendment and all.
Unless "My religion can't be privileged and will be unable trump everyone else in the eye of the law anymore! WAH!" is considered being outlawed. In which case, I'm glad it is.
Well, if Christainity is outlawed, we can at least see your true colors. Are you a true matyr like early Christians, willing to abandon modern life for communes to live in equality or just a bible thumping, power hungry wannabe using DARVO to justify the persecution of real minorities.
" I pray that I will never see Christianity outlawed during my lifetime, but it wouldn't surprise me if that happened eventually."
Former Labour Home Secretary Jacqui Smith banning the WBC from entering the UK; even with a Conservative HS, that edict still stands.
Section 5 of the Public Order Act ensures a UK equivalent of the WBC will never be allowed to exist in the UK. Hate Speech legislation. Thoughtcrime .
The Church of England dropping it's opposition to same-sex marriage last year, which became legal recently.
Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron being verbally/politically eviscerated left, right & centre after his very recent claim that 'Britain is a Christian nation'. His already woefully low poll ratings drop further; Euro elections next month (this being a barometer of electoral opinion come the next general election). Cameron is PM only due to the grace & MP numbers of Liberal Democrats' leader Nick Clegg: He's an Atheist .
Moral: It's already happened here in the UK. You can pray ...! >:D
...oh, and 'If. ' [/Spartan Laconic Wit]
"As a Christian I am deeply concerned about the erosion of religious liberty in the U.S. over recent years,"
As a christian you are deeply responsible for the erosion of religious liberty in recent years.
