Pants aren't men's clothing, either. They are a later invention. Just because men started wearing them first doesn't make them men's clothing - it just means that men were doing the kind of work where a robe or a toga would have been inconvenient. Later, when women started doing similar work, they wore them, too.

I've come down to the conclusion these restrictive "cover-up" rules aren't really about modesty/chastity/etc. because, since women get "impure thoughts" over hot guys as well, both sexes would be in burkhas.
Ever notice how only fundie perverts seem to have a problem with women wearing anything but a burlap sack? Normal men, while acknowledging that women can look great in pants, skirts, etc., also don't get obsessed with it to the point of demanding that women wear burkahs. Hell, it shouldn't matter if women are wearing absolutely nothing. It's STILL up to the man to control himself. And if just the sight of another woman destroys your marriage and causes you to behave like a baboon then your marriage wasn't very strong and neither is your will power. I suck at stopping myself from buying impulse items. But I realize that's a problem I have that I need to work on. I don't go crusading against stores for having too many fun gadgets in their windows.
