Wait a minute, is the fundie saying that if you can afford it, it's okay to live a sinful life? Sure looks that way to me :P

Ah, the Original [Capitalistic] sin of poverty!

Sin Credits! If you want to sin, you need to pay a certain amount of money...if you can't afford to spend the cash, don't sin. Brilliant!

All she'd have to do is crack open an encyclopedia to realize the *real* reasons why AIDS is so bad in Africa:
1. Poor sanitation.
2. Lack of knowledge about the disease.
Sin has nothing to do with it, even though the concept does fit her pre-conceived notion.

Well, that's because the rich can afford more favorable rules. The rest of us have to settle for the ones they throw away.

Julian -- Perhaps Jesus is not spinning so fast. After all, when Jesus was asked why he didn't sell some expensive, donated ointment and give the money to the poor, he said \"the poor will always be with us\" and he used the ointment on himself.

Nowhere in recorded mankind did Hiv exist until christianity came along. christianity is far more deadly than a mental disease. It also brought about the birth of cancer and maybe even obesity. depression is on the rise in the US and im damn sure thats because of christianity. There may be more diseases like sars and even west nile which is from christianity.
ps the Gods hate it that you use 777 in your name.

Briannathearchangel, I have as good a time laughing at Christian fundies as any of the people here (and I don't hold the non-fundy Christians in any special respect either, compared to decent people of other or no religion) but I find your claims about Christianity absurd. Christianity didn't create any of the diseases you mention. One could make the case that Christian sexual morality with its distaste for condoms has helped the spread of AIDS, true, but that's a different matter. As for cancer, obesity and the viruses, I don't see any link with religion at all. And the claim about depression, though not impossible, would be quite difficult to prove.
In fact, I find your comment so absurd that it could deserve a Secular Fundie Award.
Unless you were not being serious of course... in which case I have fallen victim to a reversed Poe's Law.

Bria was kidding.
However - your bible claims that diseases are God's punsihment and God invented diseases and all other evils, and yes some of these claims are in the New Testament, and you and Muslims and Jews all worship the God of disease.
It would be wrong to say Christianity caused these, but it certainly failed to eliminate any of them, which meant that Jesus died in vain!

Julian, are you talking to me when you say \"you\"? I'm not a Christian, I'm an atheist Jew. I just answered Bria's post because it looked glaringly absurd to me.
I believe you if you say it's a joke, although I still don't see where the humour is. (Is it to mock by mirroring fundy posts that accuse atheists or gays for all the evils of the wold? As the post we are commenting on here isn't of that kind, that explains why I didn't get the joke).

Absolutely - in exactly the same indescribably layered, political satire that GWB is employing to mock his father.

This is beyond pathetic. THIS IS THE REASON RAPTURE READY I AM A SAD CHRISTIAN. I am sad because I can only imagine how Jesus's heart is broken by this stupid idiotic statement coming from someone who states to be a christian. Is this your best witness? People in africa are dying from AIDS NOT because they are homosexual. Are you serious?

Those are contributing factors, but oppression of women is the Number One factor. Women are raped in African society at a rate we can hardly comprehend. Arranged marriages of very young girls are considered a way of \"protecting\" them since they become the property of their husband. But that husband is just as likely to rape other women or visit prostitutes, and bring AIDS home to his wives and children. But hey, that's the Fundie way!
