"Gravity pulls things down. Therefore, down is natural. Airplanes are violations of nature and must be eliminated. Standing upright is immoral and counter gravity. Pushing people off cliffs is good!"
I was reading the evowiki and found this in their response to the creationist claim that neo-darwinism is the main cause for nazism, marxism, etc..
following the laws of gravity does nothing to help us as a species, but killing off the weak supposedly helps nature give us species that are more fit. In the creation model, this would not be the case since we believe natural selection to be what the litteral meaning of the word implies, a selection of DNA. It is not beneficial in the creation model, while it is in the evolutionnary model.

Weak and infirmed and starving people die every minute in this world, and that's with nobody pushing them off a cliff, that's with the whole family doing their very best and often with medical assistance. There's thousands dying in religious/political/cultural wars daily. Nazism is the child of early 1900s Catholicism.
And this is the planet with your God apparently. Explain.
Hey, Dick, if you would kindly look up, you’ll see a very small dot way above your head. That is the point. (For further clarification, please refer to the diagram posted by anothga.)
""Gravity pulls things down. Therefore, down is natural."
It's not gravity! Gravity doesn't exist! It's just a theory!
Scientists refute gravity
Just for once I wish creationists would understand what "survival of the fittest" actually means. Nowhere in evolutionary theory does it state that we should kill off the weak. It does say that animals which can't adapt to new changes in their environment are more likely to die out while the animals which can adapt will survive and pass on their genes. I suspect that many of them actually know this, but they pretend it means something else so they can keep denouncing evolution.
Karl Marx was a prolific writer before Darwin's work came out. "Darwinism" caused Marxism? Sure. But then again, these guys give Moses credit for everyone, including those countless civilizations before the alleged life of Moses, not killing and raping each other en masse, so that's to be expected.
....... I don't think you understand what a scientific law is. Airplanes do not "break" the laws of gravity. They work with them. You see, a scientific law is not like a law of Congress. It is simply a summary of how nature behaves. Let me guess: presuppositionalist? They seem to love harping on their inability to understand what a scientific law is.
Any species which devotes its resources to killing off its own for arbitrary reasons will soon face extinction. There's a reason why Hitler lost World War II despite the fact that Gott Mitt Uns.
God, just.... stop trying to think. If, after soooo many explanations on what evolution and "survival of the fittest" is, you still cannot from a reasonable conclusion, you should just stop attempting sentience.
"following the laws of gravity" - Interesting, I didn't know it was a constitutional law, instead of a law of physics. Does that mean that if I refuse to follow it, I suddenly become able to levitate? Awesome!
Yeah, it really hasn't helped our species that much. Always having to walk instead of float. We should start a petition for the law of gravity to be removed from all constitutions!
Seriously though, if you are unable to tell the difference between a law of physics and a constitutional law, there is no hope for you anymore. Your stupidity is at its lowest point.
You're forgetting that gravity is only a theory. Maybe, when you next jump off a 3 storey building, you'll float upwards due to God's will, as described in the counter-theory of intelligent falling.

The ToE just explains why things happen. It doesn't explain what should happen. If we don't kill off the weak (and we probably did, 20,000 years ago when we were roving bands of hunter-gatherers), there's probably an evolutionary reason for that. And even if creationism were true, why would that stop the strong from killing off the weak if that was to their advantage? The Visigoths and Vandals certainly did it, and the Nazis tried. And isn't that basically what Joshua did in the Bible?
It's ironic that the people who tend to support creationism are also the first to use "natural selection" as a rationalization for their objections to helping the poor and to say "let 'em starve; it's their own fault".
@ anothga
The onion is a satirical website, so it's safe to say it's a parody.
Still, I can really see this happening, especially if fundies get even worse.
@ anothga
Yes, it is satire, it's "The Onion", the same site that posted a "front page" claiming JFK was shot 129 times from 43 different angles making fun of the JFK conspiracy theories. :) Apologies, I should have included a smiley...
As was mentioned, it is a bit scary that something like that may actually come about if fundies have their way.
The theory of evolution is a biological explanation for the diversity of life on earth.
It has jack shit to do with Marxism, and the Nazis hijacked it for their own sick desires.
Evolution explains rather well how life has come to be, the same way gravity explains that anything with mass exerts a pulling force.
Also, fucking dog breeds, were their DNA selected by god? Fuck no.
However, gravity is just a theory.
What part of "NATURAL selection" did you not grasp? Hint; it's probably the word in capitals...
Killing off the weak is not natural selection; that is breeding.
"Fit" as in "fitting its niche in Nature", not "fit" as in "strong".
The ToE is the one with the literal meaning of Natural Selection. Cretinism is the one with breeding goats in front of striped poles and getting striped offspring.
Chapter and verse where the Bible mentions DNA, please.
There is no creation model, there is only "In the beginning God created everything. Period."
@DickT Biscuit
What part of 'Think before you type' do you not understand?
And look at the date of this quote: by you . Your call.
This is your brain on fundieness . Not even once , kids.
@RichardT
Then just admit you're wrong. As you were then, so you still are now.
A case of not wanting to admit you were wrong. It won't kill you, just your pride.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
