DNA studies confirm that 97% of people who call themselves Jews, ARE NOT descendents of Abraham. In 2001, Dr. Ariella Oppenheim, a biologist at Hebrew University, published the first extensive study of DNA and the origin of the Jews. Her research found that virtually all the Jews came from Khazar blood. The newest DNA research science from Dr. Eran Elhaik and associates at the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, has confirmed that: The various groups of Jews in the world today DO NOT share a common genetic origin, and their genome is largely Khazar.
In fact, DNA research shows that the Palestinians actually have more Israelite blood than do the Khazar ‘Jews!’ These DNA research results should cause you to question everything you know about modern day Jews and the state of Israel. Today they’re called Ashkenazi Jews, but they are a Jew by religion, not by blood.

This one is pretty damned close to true by DJ's standards. The Jews of Europe and Israel are indeed European while groups who never left Palestine are indeed Palestinian. That's a big reason why Palestinians are so pissed off that they have been displaced by the European invaders who established the modern state of Israel. Of course, since we don't have the DNA of Abraham or the original Khazars to make a comparison, it's impossible to be certain of DJ's claims and it doesn't really make a bit of difference to whatever point he's trying to make.
A wee bit of research indicates the majority of genetic scientists agree the european Jewish genetic identity is mostly from the levant and possibly up to as much as 20% Khazar. Elhaiks research mostly gets slated because of its errors and lazy premises.
The palestinian thing is pretty much agreed though, and pretty obvious to anyone who knows history and human nature (i.e. most Jews stayed and assimilated, losing their jewish identity in the same way countless races have before them).
And anyway, so what? Jewishness is a religious AND an ethnic identity, and as far as any normal person is concerned, they are obviously Jewish. Besides, you can cry all you like and we can all have issues about Isreal's actions, but they did need a homeland, and they got one, and they ain't going anywhere.
"DNA studies confirm that 97% of people who call themselves Jews, ARE NOT descendents of Abraham."
While we don't have the DNA of Abraham to compare with, if he ever existed at all, genetic studies actually seem to confirm the exact opposite of this. Most Jewish people have ancestry in the Levant and even going as far out as the Fertile Crescent and North Africa.
In truth, those who are directly or solely descended from the Khazars are in the minority and limited mostly to Jewish people who lived in areas that were once controlled by the Kingdom of Khazaria. Although there has been some migration since.
Also, funny who you always seem to forget that the Ashkenazim are not the only Jewish people in the world, Davey. What say you about the Sephardim, I wonder.
@Warren McIntosh
I have not seen eye-to-eye with you on many things, but here I agree with you wholeheartedly. Rational, thoughtful and well said, sir.
DJS is double-dipping his chips into anti-Semitic canards. How long before he believes the blood libel and/or denies the Holocaust?
@pete
DNA studies show that Jews, including Ashkenazim, are significantly Levantine in ancestry. Khazar admixture is likely minimal as they blended into nearby groups of Jews, including Crimean Jews.
@Mech610
Seconded. @Warren McIntosh and I may disagree on a lot of things, but his opinion here is certainly well thought out.
Unlike DJS's.

So what? Judaism allows conversion. If someone converts to Judaism, they join both the religion and the people; it was the same with most ancient religions in the region.
And if they share Khazar genes, wouldn't they have a common genetic origin, that of being Khazar? What you call "Ashkenazi Jews" would no have "no common genetic origin," but would be Turkic. BTW, only the Khazar aristocracy converted; the rest of the people stayed with their own religion.

We don't agree, but Warren McIntosh nailed this fine.

Grateful as I am for your kind comments, you could at least try not to sound so surprised!
> The various groups of Jews in the world today DO NOT share a common genetic origin, and their genome is largely Khazar.
... but isn't that a common genetic origin?
> In other news, 100% of Christians are not descended from Jesus
Because, of course, DJS is not descended from Jews, and he's the only True Christian.
Confused?
