[Ted Cruz announces he is a candidate for the presidency]
Ill fight for and support the Constitution and thus Ted Cruz ....
the Constitution is what makes America exceptional and America "transforms" to become like every other tyranical/socialist backward country without it.

judging from the lop-sided testimony of mouth-breathers like VisionGuy, something smack-between Road Warrior and the Mojave Wasteland, only with more socialized medicine and fewer people foaming about teh ghey.

Then why are you supporting Ted "let's shut down the government if we don't get what we want" Cruz?
Were it not for the fact that Cruz doesn't stand a chance, I might be worried. He has no brains to speak of, has no understanding how the Constitution works and was until quite recently a dual citizen with another country. Gee, given all the slobbering from the birther crowd the last six years, you'd expect there to be more carrying on about the Canuck-Cuban Conservative, but nope. I wonder why.
@Sangfroid,
I wouldn't be so quick to chalk it up to racism. I suspect that plays a role, and I will call out blatant displays of it, but keep in mind that these exact same people were foaming at the mouth to get rid of Clinton, too. Need I remind you that a Republican Congress actually tried to accuse him of murdering Vince Foster? No, I'm fine accepting that this is based on the fact that one man has a D after his name and another has an R.
This guy has a law degree, has in fact taught law, and served as an associate deputy attorney general at the United States Department of Justice, and as domestic policy advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign.
In other words, he knows how US law and government work, and is lying.
Man, you'd think what was written on the constitution was literally a magic spell. An invocation that conjures the perfect country.
Not an imperfect description of a bunch of relatively clever people found as a consensus for a better design for a government 220 years ago.
I weep for the future of my nation. Seriously, Ted Cruz? That's who's running? *head desk*
Alright, time to sped all my money on alcohol, its going to be a long 500 days.
Run, Ted, run! He has no chance at all, but he'll waste millions of dollars. The more money they waste, the more their party will splinter & erode their power. I'm very much looking forward to that.
Run Ted run. See Ted run.
The UK doesn't have a written constitution, yet we're fairly transparent, not as corrupt as many countries, and are as democratic as the USA. Odd.
@Frank:
The number of Americans that have passports has increased since the '90s, but I think the main reason why many Americans don't see the need to travel abroad is that the country's so vast. For us Brits it's comparatively easy to hop on a ferry, plane, or train and travel across Europe, whereas, due to the size and costs, it's not so practical for Americans.
@ Ebon
Not most Americans. Just loud-mouthed, Republican/Teabagger idiots who are constantly told by Faux News and their other right-wing heroes that they have freedom far superior to that of other countries, and lack the intellectual curiosity to even question it.
@LAchlan:
No I'm not Scottish, nor am I a southern Englander. There was a reason why I chose to use the term comparatively . Maybe I'm biased, as it is fairly cheap and easy for me to head to the nearest city to get a ferry to Belgium or the Netherlands.
@ Yossarian Lives
Yup. Many Americans, including most of the elderly members of my family, dreamed their whole lives of traveling abroad but simply could never afford it. Also many Americans get no paid vacation time. For those lucky ones who do, it's difficult to justify the expense of overseas travel when they only get one week, or at maximum, two weeks off per year, especially if they have to use some of that time each year for trips to see family who may be 3000 miles away within the US.
I've been to other countries, some by courtesy of the United States military. I've seen some lovely sights, met some great people, had some really shitty experiences (combat is never enjoyable, no matter what non-serving turds like Ted Cruz say), and see absolutely no reason to travel anywhere outside the U.S.
That being said, fuck Ted Cruz and his ilk.
Remember how Republicans have constantly referred to President Obama as "Hussein?"
How likely are these same Republicans to vote for Rafael Cruz for president?
Ted Cruz is actually Rafael Edward "Ted" Cruz. Don't let them forget it.
Ted Cruz has no interest in the Constitution.
Here's the one key thing you conservatives really have to get through your heads. The biggest praisers of your Constitution have no interest in it and want it abolished. Cruz is completely "Christian Nation" which is absolutely unconstitutional.
And here's the reason this is so prevalent today. You have no idea what the Constitution is about because the Republicans, your churchs and the right wing media have convinced you it's about Christian Right agendas.
IT'S NOT!
You people can't possibly get any more ass backwards then putting shit like Ted Cruz in power.
"Funny how conservatives have such a hard-on for the same document their hero W called "a goddamned piece of paper"
That's a great point, because W and Cheney also said other things to suggest he didn't hold it in any esteem whatever and they didn't feel bound by it in anyway. And this knob, who thinks that is SOOOO important, doesn't care at all, all Righters to this day will deny W said that, when it's proven they just don't care.
They just pick their heroes based on superficial bullshit then defend them against anything. Nugent, Palin, Limbaugh, Phil Robertson unredeemable fools who they will defend over the worst.
@SpukiKitty
Because his mother is an American citizen and because she was living in Canada for work and not because she moved there indefinitely he still counts as a natural American citizen and can run for President. That's the same reason McCain could run despite being born in Panama.
Lets face it if Obama was born in Kenya he would still be an American Citizen because of his mother.
@creativerealms
I wasn't sure what exactly the rules for that are, thanks for clarifying.
Anyway, on the subject of Mr. "Equality Is A Threat to Liberty", as far as I know he's not actually running for the presidency anymore. I haven't fact-checked yet but the Right Wing Watch story I was linked to in an email this morning referred to the subject as "America's Dumbest Congressman", so I have my doubts it could be referring to anyone else, at least this month week.
@ Yossarian Lives
Just to reinforce #1782130's point, even those who do get paid vacation get much less than people in Europe. Americans are - and are expected by their employers to be - much more mobile than Europeans, so it is easy to end up living thousands of miles away from your family. If you want to travel a lot outside the US, you have to get a job abroad or have a job that requires a lot of travel. And if you don't have much money, that means joining the Army.
@ creativerealms
John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which was US territory at the time he was born, though it has since become part of Panama.
Confused?
