So you only don't do evil because you have to answer to God? That's like a little kid who's only good so his parents won't get angry. That's not why you should be a good person.

Oh.

Well I closed the door, so I think I'm good.

See, you can ask God to close the door, or you can close it yourself, and I actually went ahead and put this little deadbolt lock on it too.

Atheists encounter the same doors in their lives as Christians. Except that church door behind which a lot of evil is often concealed

As was mentioned, the door for evil opens for everyone. Christian, atheist, everyone. The difference is, some of us are willing to walk over and close it ourselves, while others are content to stare out the door praying for someone to do it for them.

Whereas a fundie will step right through the door, have an affair or whatever, then go back in and ask for forgiveness, trusting that nothing he does will be held against him.

So to speak.

Atheism open the door for responsibility, because Atheist's can't just ask God for forgiveness and be instantly stripped of all guilt and rsponsibility.

Fixed.

That's right, we don't have a god to answer to. We have something far more meaningful, each other.

No thanks. I'll just take responsibility for my own actions.

It's been 35 years but I've yet to see the door.

Come on, door, hurry up. I don't have another 35 years left. I want to get my kicks in before I die.

*Taps foot impatiently*

And Christianity opens the door to evil as they have a figure to blame their evil actions on and an other figure that will forgive them of even the most heinous crimes by believing in him...

I said opens the door, not all Christians are evil

Theism opens the door for evil, because theists assume there is a God to answer to.

I said opens the door, not all theists are evil, but those who are evil, often tend to be theists.

atheists can be moral with the door open, theists have it closed, but some still break through it, proclaiming it to be moral.

who's really moral in this situation?

We have a legal system to answer to.

According to your dogma, all people are evil. The door was opened when your "omniscient" god left a dangerous tree in a garden and the first two people ate from it. The only difference is that your lot is supposedly forgiven (saved by grace and all of that).
