I am not saying that every atheist feels obligated to go kill people. In fact, such an obligation (if not for the variable of self-interest) would make no sense. I’m saying that, to an atheist, there’s nothing wrong with killing people (since morality is nothing but subjective opinion). An atheist, if true to his title, sees nothing wrong with events like Columbine, September 11, the Oklahoma City bombing, etc.

Excuse me? What kind of twisted logic is at work there?
As an atheist, I live my life as I see fit. The Bible does make some good points - however, I don't kill because I find it morally apprehensible, not because The Bible says it's wrong. Just because people don't do things just because The Bible says, doesn't mean that they'll live lives devoid of moral responsibility.
And on the subject of what The Bible dictates, have you read Leviticus lately? If you're a good Christian, I hope you don't shave, or eat seafood. And wearing polyester? Forget it, you'd burn in Hell for that.
The Arrogant, Stupid Insanity is strong with this one!
Religion, especially the Bible, does NOT have a monopoly on morality; heck, at best it is just used to bolster whatever its current society already deems moral, and the parts that oppose that are ignored. Or have you hugged your slave today?

Morality is nothing but subjective opinion. As an athiest, I have to agree there, at least broadly. However, you appear to think that "subjective" is the same as "non-existent".
My morality IS subjective, yes. It depends on how I was raised by my parents. It depends on my personal life experiences, and what I've observed in the world around me. It depends on society as a whole, and my place in it.
Your morality, on the other hand, appears to be based entirely upon dogmatic interpretation of a book that was written roughly two thousand years ago.
Now tell me, "Jedi", which of those is easier to twist into a justification for mass murder and cruelty?
How has this only had four comments in NINE years? This is a real insight into how the indoctrinated Christian mind works, totally unable to even see outside the box let alone think outside it.
Well, most humans have an instinctive understanding of the value of life. We are naturally disinclined to kill others, how ever much we may feel like it from time to time!
Morality is not subjective, dick head.
I dont want to be burned alive, because it's a horrible way of dying, therefore I would never burn somebody else alive.
If you genuinely think we're that cold blooded why are you antagonizing us?
*Edit - There's some argument as to how subjective morality is, but i figure any healthy person knows killing is wrong
Sorry, Jedi -- postmodernism and post-structuralism are descriptive, not prescriptive. And, in particular, they're descriptive of you -- they're all about understanding how ideology gets in the way of humanity, and you're the prime case study.
I'm saying that very, very few atheists feel obligated to go kill people. Such an obligation does indeed make no sense. To most atheists, it's wrong to kill people, because that both harms them and infringes on their human rights, and it's against the law.
An atheist, true to her title, see no evidence for the existence of any gods or goddesses. That is all; in every other issue, atheists are just as different as religious people are.
Some Christians see little wrong with events like Columbine, Rwanda, Utøia, the Tiller murder, etc. None of them are proof enough that you ought to have responsible gun-laws, or strong human rights, to these people.
An atheist does not believe in or worship a God that does not mean they have no morals, to an Atheist morals are formed by sociaty and not some deity who holds eternal damnnation over your head. Fundies just hate that people can control themselves without God watching over them and that's why they attack atheists like that.
Now I could make an equally wrong assumption that a faith only salvation Christian also sees nothing wrong with killing people. After all we are only on this world to die, that we only go to heaven after we die and accepting God matters. There is nothing stopping these people from killing the damned hoping to die sooner and gaining the rewards of heaven.
Atheists have every reason to live as long as possible.
Whereas when a Christian wants to kill someone, they simply say they are doing the work of their god. There are, after all, an ample number of bible verses to support killing. And through most of post-Biblical western history churches have had enough influence over secular governments to assure that bible-inspired killings were not considered crimes.
If a person really wants to do something cruel, they will most likely do it. History has shown that being a Christian is, at best, a minor obstacle to that.
According to your buybull, there's nothing wrong with killing, either. Your blood god loves killing, even infants:
1 Samuel 15:3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
Numbers 31:17: Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. (we won't even discuss keeping the 32000 virgins alive to be raped later)
Leviticus 20:9: For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.
Deuteronomy 22:20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
Exodus 31:15: 15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
And you worship this god that tells you to do these things?
