[Rabbi Arik Ascherman, an Israeli activist from Rabbis for Human Rights, was guarding a Palestinian olive harvest in the West Bank when he was attacked by an armed Jewish settler.]

Israel's Channel 10 news conducted an interview with the suspect [...] after he was released to house arrest last Friday. His back turned to the camera to protect his identity, he accused human rights activists of being the source of tension in his area, saying there needs to be "deterrence."

"If I kill one of them it'll be over. But that isn't legal," he said. "We need to deter them. They need to be made fearful. They need to receive a blow."

¶ This Rabbi is a hero! I hope he's okay. I hope he recovers and goes back to what he was doing....with even more supporters in tow.
¶ The nastier Israelis need to be taught that Palestinians should be regarded as fellow citizens of Israel and that antagonizing them only makes the Israeli-Palestinian conflict worse.
¶ True, both sides have their idiots but the idiots on the Palestinian side get fuel for their fire from the actions of the idiots on the Israeli side.

If Israel....
* ....completely stopped all persecution of Palestinians,
* ....took down that wall,
* ....didn't trash Palestinian property to build Israeli stuff on it,
* ....regard Palestinians as fellow Israelis and/or allow a two-state solution....
....a lot of this mess in the Mid-East would be cleared up!

¶ Same with the Western countries treatment of Muslims. Quit making Muslims the bogeyman and make the distinction between Wahhabiism and real Islam. Islam is just another Abrahamic faith, like Judaism and Christianity.
¶ If you stop making Muslims the bogeyman, the disaffected ones looking for direction won't fall into the arms of the Wahhabi terror! Wahhabiism is the enemy, not Islam! All people, Muslims included, should be Wahhabi-phobic! Wahhabi is the festering boil on Ms. Trunchbull's butt! It's The Devil/Demiurge's crotch-rot. It's the blue-waffle of Islamic faith. The "settlement" process is sanctioned by Israel's government. If it wasn't an Israeli citizen he attacked he'd be getting cover fire instead of a mild reminder to check his target. Even milder since the government doesn't particularly care for activists.

The entire conflict can be summed up as state-sponsored terrorism turned into a competitive sport. The civillian population are the playing field and the entire goal is to provoke the other team into a foul alternating deniable attacks and return fire with very ambiguous definitions of both. The team that gets the spectators on their side "wins" the sick ass game.

I'm really not a fan.

What I called you out on was your apathy towards the people being slaughtered en masse in their leaders' sick little sport. You make no distinction between the ones intentionally stoking the violence and those caught in the crossfire reducing them to a nebulous mass you just mark for burning. Do you think the best resolution to a hostage situation is to napalm the entire building? Is levelling a city and all of it's inhabitants the solution to gang violence? Should I slap every individual American in the face for the shit their politicians get up to regardless of their own affiliations and leanings? You've stopped seeing people and started aggressively categorizing them as something to destroy. That's the level of dehumanization we've seen you apply to any given situation lately.

Social Justice Warriors? You don't care if they're overboard feels addicts or if somebody is actually talking sense. They're just SJW's and need to shut up.

You don't care if somebody that is religious is an intolerant psychopathic literalist zealot or somebody that finds their beliefs a guideline for how they personally act and believe others are free to live their lives as they see fit. No, religious was all you needed to hear before you decided they were a terrible person.

Politicians, terrorists, civil uprisings, drug cartels, and people trying to keep their heads down hoping the violence will just pass them by knowing only years of conflict and propaganda that perpetuates a cycle of violence? You just look at the borders of a map, figure everyone inside the dotted lines might as well be the exact same person, and consider every drop of blood spilled progress because they're all the bad guy.

This is fundie logic. You live your life using this kind of reasoning you're going to end up a train wreck.

Just remember: That Rabbi and that Settler who almost killed him for helping a Palestinian farmer were both Israeli and had very different opinions on Palestinian co-existence. Your attitude would damn them both.

It's hard to NOT be apathetic to the people when they're the ones who have been keeping the endless feud going for literally decades now. The entire conflict is all one big retard jamboree, with the Jews and Palestinians flinging shit at each other and occasionally sodomizing each other when they get bored of the shit.

Tell me, how can I seriously care about either of them when both sides are bloodthirsty religious morons? That's the reason why the conflict will never, ever end. It's hard to humanize people who incinerate children with white phosphorous or blow themselves up or mutilate the penises of babies. And they do it all for their gods.

And before anyone mentions Jews and Palestinians who are peace activists, that's not really evidence. They're not really doing anything concrete to solve the conflict, they're just trying to feel better about themselves before going back to business as usual.

Also, your comparisons are kinda funny too - napalming a building would technically end a hostage crisis, from a certain point of view. It wouldn't be a very good ending of course, so it wouldn't be the ideal solution, but it would end.

Nobody would ever guess that both the Zionist movement and the PLO have their foundations in socialist secularism. No nationalist sentiment involved, no competition for resources, no longstanding history of grievances - all it's about is what you're obsessed with, and nothing else. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Forgive me, but as we've no idea what you mean by "doing anything concrete to solve the conflict," then it is hard to fathom what might count as evidence if you don't like it. And we can forget about the longrunning disputes between peoples of the same denomination, or between one atheist government and another, for they are supposed to have seen the light and abandoned the "bloodthirsty" ways of religion. They just can't have happened.

Israelis enjoys terrorizing Palestinians and have zero historical self-awareness.

You've picked a good example to illustrate your point; Rabbi Ascherman, being Israeli, must clearly enjoy terrorizing Palestinians. As for a lack of historical awareness with any meaning, as a historian, it's not the Palestinians I'm looking at here.
