if you drop out of school and wind up poor, its your fault.
if you have kids outside of marriage and can't work so you can take care of them, its your fault.
if you don't save your money and wind up relying on the government for support when you are too old to work, its your fault.
life is about choices. you make the right ones, you succeed. you make crappy ones, you suffer the consequences. the money i and any other americans WORK for should not be used to support someone because they were too stupid to stay in school or wait until they were married to have sex. nobody is entitled to anything. the government has NO right to take my money and give it to someone else. if someone needs help, they can go to a church for help. that's what tithing is for, so that the church can support itself and others. i give my money willingly there, and they can have what they need.

While I share some of your frustration with the stupid choices some people make, you need to understand that often one can make the right choices and still wind up in trouble. Similarly, most of us know of cases where someone has made "crappy" choices and skated through life relatively unscathed.
Of course, the most civilized society would let its unfortunate members suffer and die with naught but a quiet whimper. Oh sure, we may be wealthy, but an individual's money is far better spent as a down payment on a new car than saving lives.
I don't like to resort to ad hominems but Ryan is cold. Just plain cold.
My taxes should be used to wage war on people I hate Goddamit!
Fuck the public service, infrastructure, education! War I say, war! WAR!!!
While I generally agree that if you fuck yourself over purely through your own stupidity you deserve no sympathy, I'm not going to fuck over the child. And most churches put more of the tithe money toward itself than charity.
One point I must raise: What if you drop out because you have a single parent that's too sick to work and the meager scraps society throws aren't enough to support your family? Do you still deserve to get fucked later in life?
@Ryan, summarised
nobody is entitled to anything.
Yes, fuck all those who have lost homes due to floods, earthquakes and tornadoes. Fuck all those teens whose parents have been killed in car accidents. Fuck all those who have lost so many things/people in one day that they crack and lose their jobs.
Fuck all those children left on the sidewalks and dumpsters, not being able to take care of themselves.
Fuck all those families who don't earn enough money so their children cannot be educated and thus one day earn enough money for themselves and their families.
Not to mention, fuck that high school whore for wearing a skirt and being ignorant enough to force rape upon her, ending up pregnant, single parent, without a home (which she has disgraced by the growing belly and broken hymen) on the street, dumping high school for she needed to take care of herself and the upcoming mouth to feed. Fuck her for her low paying job isn't enough to get her diapers and baby food, not to mention decent health care.
Yes, fuck all those people injured on the streets. It was THEIR fault that they sat in those cars, walked on those sidewalks; they should have known what was coming.
Still, most of all, FUCK YOU, Ryan for you, unlike all those poor people, ARE the one who deserved it!
I find it ironic that he has a problem giving money to the government to help people cos it's their own fault blah blah blah, while his is perfectly willingly to give it to a church to help presumably the same sort of people that his taxes would help.
Is there something I'm missing here?
Is the blame for your situation dependent on which organisation you receive help from?
I found everything relatively agreeable (as much as I would take from a conservative) until he gets to tithing. Tithing is the biggest scam in modern church history, that has no scriptural basis, and was only introduced within the past couple of centuries. All it does is force everyone at particpating churches to think they must continually pay a sum of money to get to heaven. The pastor even makes the demand on people on social security and welfare. The churches and its pastors are basically getting rich. How else do you think that the churches have enough money to make TV commercials, give pastors fine cars and big houses, and bribe politicians with? Its pretty obvious as to where the funds for so many megachurches to get built come from.
Yes, Ryan, it's the family's fault the local production plant (that was the main source of income for an entire town) shut down leaving everyone broke except for the bigwigs who ran off with the multi million dollar checks. You know what I'm talking about. Those factories that let you buy stuff cheap! But you wouldn't care because you'll just go and buy from another manufacturer. Yes, it's all the fault of that family.
Fuck you.

It's simple Nanu, he only loves his neighbor about $1 worth every week.
Obviously Ryan doesn't believe in his governemnt protecting him with an army, navy airforce or intelligence services. Nor does he wish for competent transport links or a good health service, or anyone to take care of him if he gets sick and can't help himself, or of he goes bankrupt. Wow, it must be fun to be him...
Fundier than it looks, folks. Especially since it's a rare, rare church that'll actually use its monetary donations to help the truly needy in the community instead of 'charitable organizations'. I've seen a few, but they're few and far between. Going to a church for help is usually not quite as effective as going to a local gub'mint assistance organization, since you're not actually sure you'll get anyone to even pay attention to your plight in church beyond a bowed head and a small prayer.

What about the other 49% of citizens?
They have to suffer him, also?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
