Okay, fine. Then desert him, so you can get divorced. Problem solved.

Why don't we do an experiment. Find a random man, get him to seem all nice towards you, then once you're married start beating you. See what you do then.
(disclaimer: of course, I wouldn't actually do this)

Can she be unfaithful to him (to get a divorce), or will she be condemned to stoning?

Of course, she ignores the parts of the bible that claim NO divorce is allowed.
\"you really have to know your spouse beforehand.\"
Absolutely true, but if the spouse you knew beforehand turns into a violent bastard, you should be allowed a divorce. Yet another reason religion ought to go.

Yeah, really get to know him.
No sex though. And no living together first.
You'll get to know his character well enough from sitting demurely across the aisle from him at church.

Whenever I see posts like this I wonder where the brothers and fathers are. If you married and then hit my sister you wouldn't have to worry about divorce, because I would kill you. Okay maybe not kill, but force you to leave the state under penalty of death.

The problem with desertion is that the man has to do the deserting.

What remarkable Christian compassion!
Also, how do you direct link a church signage generation? They seem pretty adament about not allowing direct links!

Hmmmm, just like baby alligators, Aesmael.
They might be cute when they're little, but it's a felony to flush them down the toilet when you get sick of them.

Maronan: I'm using image shack to host the signs. You need to save one after you make it, then upload it to somewhere you can link from.

She also says that your not alowed to live with someone before your married because others might think your having sex, how the hell are you going to know if someone is not going abuse you unless you live with them!

But if you biblically \"know\" you spouse beforehand, it's known as fornication and you'll burn in hell.

As I've said elsewhere-
In Mormon theology, it is *perfectly acceptable* to seek a divorce to end an abusive relationship.
Not only that, but the abusive partner faces excommunication. Not only does that mean being kicked out of the church, it also means that all ordinances the person had performed on them have instantly been voided.
As far as unfaithfulness - in this situation, the clergy are advised to urge reconciliation and counseling.

I would estimate that approximately 10% of the state of Utah is related to my family in some fashion. As such, if anyone attempted to abuse a member of my family then they would indeed have to leave in a hurry.
