If you say that there is no GOD, and you have proof and there are millions of people that have seen his hand move (metaphorically speaking) than why are you an athiest? It's as if you went to get checked for an STD and you were diagnosed HIV positive and they provided you with the evidence that you were HIV positive. Your body revealed the symptoms. Would you still say you are not infected with HIV? Is it not similar to reading The Bible and saying that GOD does not exist?

"metaphorically speaking"
That pretty much answers your question right there.
"proof and there are millions of people that have seen his hand move"
I have no doubt that lots of people have seen god. But I'm still not convinced that he exists. I've seen dragons, but that doesn't mean they exist (I was dreaming at the time). People see all sorts of stuff that doesn't exist.
"Is it not similar to reading The Bible and saying that GOD does not exist?"
No. That would be more like buying a book at Borders and reading in it that I had HIV.
<<< If you say that there is no GOD, and you have proof >>>
If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. But she doesn't, and I have seen no proof that God exists. The Bible is not proof, because it is not a reliable source. You'd have to convince me that it's reliable first before it could be considered as evidence ... and no, saying "the Bible is the Word of God because it says so" is not going to convince me (or anyone with more than three brain cells) that it's reliable.
No, it is not at all similar, you mouth-breathing, short-bus-riding, Wendy's-working mongoloid.
But science is fact, the Bible is not.....oh god just give me a blunt instrument to beat this person with, put them out of their misery. I bet their parents never had sex again after seeing what they created.
I didn't stop at reading the Bible, I tried to understand it. I tried to see the reasoning behind why it was written that way. I still don't believe in God.
It's largely composed of individual writings from assorted ignorant desert dwellers trying to fathom their universe. It was compiled subsequently by the early church with a political agenda to advance.
The Bible isn't evidence God exists any more than is the night sky.
OVERDOSESURGE,
"If you say there is a GOD, and have no proof and there are millions of rational people that have not seen his ass move (metaphorically speaking) than why are you a theist? It's as if you went to get checked for a mental disorder and were diagnosed with schizophrenzia and they provided you with evidence that you were schizophrenic. You heard voices and saw someone who wasn't real. Would you still say you are sane? Is it not similar to reading The Bible and saying God exists?"
No being an atheist is nothing like your example.
Being religious: This thing is too complicated for me to bother working out, I'll just claim that someone made it and use this as proof god is real
Being atheist: This thing is rather complicated, I will preform lots of tests on it and use what I know to find out how it works
Also there is loads of proof that god can't be real, there is plenty in the bible, loads of contradictions in both the book and against reality and common sense
"If you say that there is no GOD, and you have proof and there are millions of people that have seen his hand move (metaphorically speaking) than why are you an athiest?"
Because we DO NOT have proof that millions of people have seen its hand move, metaphorically or otherwise. Oh they may say they have seen it. They may even sincerely believe it, but that alone is not proof.
No it isn't. Next question, please.
I have seen the hand of Saruman move, on the movie screen. I'm still an "athiest".
"If you say that there is no GOD"
I don't.
"and you have proof and there are millions of people that have seen his hand move (metaphorically speaking)"
I don't. Other than "their saying so", which isn't "proof", any more than millions claiming the earth was flat. "Religion allows perfectly decent and sane people to believe by the billions what only lunatics believe on their own."
"than why are you an athiest?"
I'm not. I don't even know what an "athiest" is.
There's other books of myth you discount WITHOUT looking, guess they're all right, and yes, I mean right down to the simplest rhymes.
Because they were written, have had believers through centuries. Why not? Have you noticed your Bible arguments ARE the same as believing any weird shit that someone imagines?
There's a logical obvious reason for that.
Confused?
