I hate Republics. What is needed is an incorruptible authoritarian system. This just hasn't been developed yet. I think for the time being we [Canadians] should revert back to a monarchy and you Americans can come back over to the Queen.

If it were truly incorruptible, and by authoritarian you simply meant a dictatorship but not necessarily one with a strong anti-libertarian bent, then yes, it would be ideal. Trouble is that "incorruptible" humans don't, and never will, exist. As it stands, to paraphrase Winston Churchill, democracy sucks, but it's better than anything else we've tried.
A benevolent dictator who is incorruptable would not be able to control a modern nation. International and national politics and circumstances are far complexer than what they used to be making it impossible for one person to control everything (not that it was doable in the past). And if that person was actually infallible, what makes you think that the other performers in the political circus are? And what about his successor?
Wow - is this idiot actually inferring that the UK is in fact an "incorruptible authoritarian system"?
No monarchy has ever fitted that title, either with the incorrupt part, or in the current case of a quaint and dated figurehead, authoritarian.
And that would ultimitely crap all over the Decleration of Independence which is the core of the American way and later spawned the whole Democratic Revolution that would allow for Mexico, France, India and other countries to revolt to a new path.
How about a constitutional tyranny? The Tyrant is in charge until he violates, attempts to violate, or change one of the basic constitutional laws. Then he's killed and his assassin is in charge until he fucks up. Tyrants who manage to live out their whole lives without messing up get to appoint their own successor.
Boy, I'm sure that's EXACTLY what we Canucks want, too!
2002, eh? Well, if you weren't a fan of "Mad Dog" Jean Cretien, I could understand the depression you'd be feeling...
As a Brit who has to live with the undemocratic weirdness of our current parliamentary monarchical system, I'd like to kick Khazul in the teeth.
Having said that, the system of gerrymandering and corporate purchase under which American democracy currently runs is just as bad, if not worse.
I have no idea where that leaves Canada. Never been there.
Just had to reply to that last comment (only a year late ... lol).
Canada has a bicameral parliamentary system. We haven't actually been under the control of the Crown for a long, looooong time.
The Queen is the titular head of our government I guess, as we are members of the British Commonwealth. But the monarchy's actual power in Canada died in the 1800s.
When we elect a government (provincially or federally) it is direct "rep by pop". Each Electoral division (popularly called a "riding") elects a representative to the government. The party with the most members elected forms the government.
It works pretty well. Everyone is usually equally unhappy with the results. LOL!!

I suggest you never watch the anime series "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion", and the alternative-Earth scenario it's set in, if you know what's good for you, khazul.
(For those in the know, three words: Emperor Norio Wakamoto)
Most people are corruptible, and there's no way of telling beforehand. And even well-meaning people can be ill-informed, inept, or just screw up once in a while. That's the point of a republic: you're able to kick government out when it screws up.
Perhaps a Theocracy where the preists rule is absolute ?
I dont think I would like that cause being tortured stings a bit .
Dictatorship ? Yes , I submit ME for the job. All bow down and worship me ! Bwahahahaha

So you think the anime series "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion" is a documentary ...?:

The Queen is a figurehead, a symbol of the British Empire. She has no power and little influence, however her family owns a shitload of land and holdings. Canada is independant from any British command, Queen or Country.
In America you treat your politicians and celebrities with even more reverance then the Brits do to the Queen. You can easily put Ol Elizabeth in the same type of worship system America gives Ronnie Regan or Donald Trump. Royalists exist in almost every country in the world, even America, but are never pushing for a return to the monarchy system.
Confused?
