Dont you see why Christians have a problem with full tolerance?
Its a slippery-slope philosophy which Christians are scared to death of (first gay marriage, then gay adoption, then killing God in the government, then mandatory gay appreciation classes in high school, etc). If two guys want to commit their lives together, they can do that now. But if after a legal gay marriage, they want to adopt kids, well now the fundies are up in arms. The difference between your choice behind closed doors and a lifestyle that affects others.

But...but...isn't it the same thing when fundies try and make sure all those things can't happen, this making THEIR choice affect the lifestyle of others? And in a worse way? You don't see homosexuals trying to destroy straight marriage, or keep straight parents from adopting, yet the fundies are trying to do that to homosexuals. Exactly where's the line between whom gets to tell whom what to do?
Exactly, Nezu Chiza. What's sauce for the fundies is sauce for the gays; the various factions have protections under the law (from discrimination) despite many weird practices and beliefs, and gays deserve no less.

"mandatory gay appreciation classes in high school "
Students just take turns telling the gay among them about their best traits?
"Carl, you're unusually honest. Jenn, you... ah, kick ass."
Hey Jo-mama: I don't know if people forgot to tell you, or if you were just too stupid to understand, but the 'slippery slope' is a logical fallacy. Why, if we have people going around accepting slippery slopes, the next thing you know, they'll be worshipping hitler and sodomizing puppies.
Still not getting it, eh? Being gay isn't a choice anymore than being straight is a choice. And, I don't see how others having a "gay life-style" should make any difference to others. Just because your neighbors are gay doesn't mean you have to be.
Why some people have problems with gays is beyond me. Sure, I don't like the sight of 2 guys kissing anymore than I like the sight of a guy and girl kissing (2 girls is very acceptable) but that doesn't mean that they should be banished.

This is a little too much and I doubt that it will get this far. But "we" should go out and demand Heterosexual appreciaton classes as soon as it comes to this.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that the students are way ahead of you there, only in an extracurricular format.

I LOL'd at this.
@Bill Maher
I don't like even seeing men kiss. But I don't ask that my opinion be made into the law , you see, that's the fundamental difference. That's what tolerance means. It means, "OK, what you're doing is completely not my cup of tea, but please enjoy!"
And here we are at the 3000th Wanker Olympiad Extreme Games, and once again it's time for the half cocked pipe!
The slopes nice and slippery, and it'll be interesting to see how many freestylin' leaps and jumps these mad cats can muster as they slide their way to God knows where.
The crowd hushes in expectation as the first competitor is at the start on her soap-box. Jo-mama's representing the Lead eaters guild here today and let me tell you there's batshit out there that's scared of catching what she's got!

Yes. It's because they're bigots.
Its a slippery-slope philosophy which Christians are scared to death of (first gay marriage, then gay adoption, then killing God in the government, then mandatory gay appreciation classes in high school, etc).
Yes, gays want the right to marry. What's wrong with that? Yes, gays want the right to adopt kids without being discriminated against. What's wrong with that? My cousin and her female partner adopted a girl from Cambodia. If you think you should be sent back, you can tell it to my relatives' faces. Bring lightweight clothing; you'll be escorted off the premisis so fast that you'll likely experience relativistic effects, so you want to keep your total rest mass down. Yes, religion should be removed from government entirely. If you believe this to be a bad thing, you can always move to a more religious country, like Iran. As for "gay appreciation classes," well, you're just spouting nonsense now. What would such classes teach, why, and why do you think they'd happen?
If two guys want to commit their lives together, they can do that now.
True, but they're deprived of the legal rights that married couples have. Why should they be denied these rights?
But if after a legal gay marriage, they want to adopt kids, well now the fundies are up in arms.
Oh, so it's OK if they marry, but adopting kids? How dare they. Is there a reason why gays adopting kids is bad? Remember, your bigotry and the BuyBull aren't reasons. Unless you can come up with a detailed reason why gays shouldn't marry that is not based on your bigotry, the Wholly Babble, tradition, or misconception, I shall be forced to conclude that you are a six-letter compound word which starts with "a" and ends with three letters which form the word for headgear.
The difference between your choice behind closed doors and a lifestyle that affects others.
Gay marriage affects you, how? In what way will you be compromised if gays are allowed to marry? In what way will you be affected if gays can adopt kids? Or were you merely worried for the kids' sake? In that case, I should thank you for worrying. My young cousin is so much worse off in a loving and well-off family than she would be in poverty in Cambodia, or with an abusive but hetero family.
Dear Jo-mama,
As you seem to think being gay is a choice, let me ask you this question: When did you choose to be heterosexual? And for your enlightenment, the only choice that goes on behind closed doors is who gets to ride the hobbyhorse
first!
How does allowing homosexuals to marry and adopt affect the lives of others? When Massachussetts legalized gay marriage, my parents' marriage didn't automatically combust nor did my grandparents'. I'm sorry that your crush is gay, but there's nothing either of you can do about it.
Confused?
