When you examine the Bush Republican administration, there are many significant accomplishments: A Robust Economy, The economy is doing quite poorly, and the massive debt Bush is building up won't help anything. Bush is committed to ending protections for workers, so most wealth will be concentrated among very few people. Very Low Unemployment, What very low unemployment? Unemployment is quite high; keep in mind, you have to count people off the official rolls. No Child Left Behind Educational Reform, The No Child Left Behind plans forced schools to fulfill new requirements, but gave them no money to do so. This resulted in underfunded schools that do a poor job of educating students. Prescription Drug Plan Medicare Reform, The "Medicare reform" is essentially a handout to the drug industry. The act prevents Medicare from negotiating for lower prices; the companies can charge huge prices and Medicare must pay them on the taxpayers' dime. This is a corporate handout, no matter how you look at it. Immigration Reform, What immigration reform? Nothing's been done. Nothing good has even been proposed; proposals generally call for deporting immigrants, closing the borders, or allowing "guest worker" programs similar to indentured servitude, where foreign workers are stripped of most of their rights. Conservative Supreme Court Appointments, This is an accomplishment?! Bush is trying to create a theocracy where the rich get their way and the poor have to pray and pay. The "conservative" court appointments would rule that marriage is only for some people, that a few peoples' opinions have priority over many peoples' health, and that irrational belief is a good thing. Please include supporting evidence for how this is an "accomplishment." Atheistic Abortion and Homosexuality movement stopped. What is "atheistic abortion? Please separate this into "atheism" and "abortion," and provide evidence as to why both are bad things that must be stopped. Atheism is merely a rational response to the lack of evidence for any god, and abortion is a medical procedure. The need for abortion should be reduced as much as possible, but you seem to suggest that abortion itself is inherently bad. Finally, what is the "homosexuality movement?" There is no movement to make people homosexual; such an effort would be futile, as people cannot change their sexual orientations. Do you mean the movement to grant homosexuals equal rights? If so, why do you list this as an "accomplishment?" Yet the polls indicate President Bush is very unpopular. This is likely due to the frequent tax cuts for the rich, corporate handouts, neglect for the environment, waste of money by fighting a useless war, and constant efforts to force everyone to follow his religion by persecuting gays and banning some kinds of medicine and science.
I believe this is due to the Atheistic liberal news media propaganda machine. Unsupported assertions are meaningless. You must provide evidence for everything you say. Conspiracy theories require inordinate amounts of evidence, since they are so unlikely and far-fetched. Atheists make up a very small percentage of the country, so it's a rather outrageous claim that they control most of the media. You will need a giant amount of evidence here, but I have only your unsupported assertion. The Atheistic liberal news media greatly influences both domestic and foreign policy by constantly reporting only bad news about Christians, conservatives and Republicans and only good news about atheists, liberals and democrats. Since Republican Christians control the House, the Senate, and the Presidency, they are responsible for almost everything those bodies do. Where do Democrats have enough power to do anything wrong? Where are there any atheists in any positions of power? If there were any Democrats in power, the media would certainly report on their mistakes; just look at the media response to Clinton's actions! Obviously, the media will report on Republican mistakes, since there are many, but the media are actually slanted towards the right. The agenda of the Atheistic liberal news media is to promote socialism, feminism, pornography, abortion, homosexuality and the Atheistic lifestyle by getting democrats back in control of government. [...] Aside from this "atheistic liberal news media" conspiracy theory, you make a series of unsupported assertions about what the media want and also what atheist liberals believe.
1. Socialism. Very few atheist liberals want socialism. Very few people of any sort want socialism. Some do, but not in the Soviet Union sense. The media don't support socialism.
2. Feminism. Feminism is the radical notion that women are people too. Most people support this. Those that don't are sexist bigots. The media have very little to say on this matter.
3. Pornography. There are very few (if any) atheist liberals who want to "promote" pornography. Most of us want to keep it legal the government isn't your mommy and shouldn't tell you what to do in private but almost no one wants to force pornography onto anyone. The media are often quite conservative on this issue.
4. Abortion. No one wants to "promote" abortion. No one wants to "promote" any medical procedure. Atheist liberals want to reduce the need for abortion, like any sensible person. Atheists want to keep abortion legal, since there's no reason to deny medical treatment to anyone, but this isn't "promoting" abortion. The media are often neutral on this issue.
5. Homosexuality. No one can "promote" homosexuality; it's an inborn trait. Liberal atheists generally want to grant homosexuals equal rights, and why not? It wouldn't affect anyone else. The media are generally quite conservative on this issue.
6. "The atheistic lifestyle." In general, liberal atheists are quite happy to let you live the way you want, as long as you don't make us live the way you want. Few atheists would object to you praying in private, going to church in your spare time, or celebrating religious holidays. However, you may not force us to do those things, and you certainly can't prevent us from accessing medical care, or prevent our children from getting an education by filling the schools with "intelligent design."
If a democrat was elected president today, tomorrow America would immediately be winning the Iraq War and New Orleans would be well on the way to recovery. A sensible Democrat would try to end the Iraq war, whether we've "won" it or not. The media would not suddenly claim New Orleans is better solely because a Democrat is in office. With the "everything is ok under democrats" spin, Iran would be free to develop a nuclear weapons and we would be face with another 9/11 in the future. There is no pro-Democrat spin, and Democrats certainly wouldn't bring another 9/11. In fact, Republicans are inviting more attacks on America. The September 11th attack was launched by Al Qaeda. Bush ignored Al Qaeda, and instead attacked Iraq. Iraq posed no threat to us, and had nothing to do with 9/11. Although brutal, Iraq was secular, and thus presented an obstacle to Muslim extremist terrorists. Bush wiped out one of Al Qaeda's enemies and replaced it with a spawning ground for new Al Qaeda recruits. Iraq may end up as an extremist Muslim state that will support Al Qaeda.
D-. I would give you an F, but I don't want to see you again next year.
