People were laughing at me for being a geocentrist, even though there is no possible way to prove the earth orbits the sun. You guys are most probably ignorant of modrn geocentricity too...

Yeah, there is no possible way to prove that the Earth orbits the Sun...
Except, you know, all these nifty ways that we have of measuring what the earth is revolving around.
Next thing you know he's going to be claiming that the Earth is flat, and we can't prove that it's round.
A father's day e-mail to RichardT:
"Thanks again, Dad, for raising me to be as smart as you. Gotta run now, break's over. The burgers aren't going to flip themselves."
Later that day:
"Dad, you're not gonna believe this shit. Management replaced me with an automated grill that flips its own burgers. Now what the fuck am I going to do with my life?"
Well ... technically, he's right. There isn't a way to prove that one thing revolves around another, since the maths can be written either way. In a similar vein, he cannot prove that everything in the universe doesn't revolve around my big toe. The equations just get really weird when I wiggle it around.
Thing is that in mathematics, the simplest answer is almost always the "correct" one. There are some situations in which this is not true, but not many. Therefore, since everything is so much simpler if the objects in the solar system revolve around the sun, that is the "correct" way to view it.
@NotMe
And let's not forget all those calculations that just happen to be right, even with our completely mistaken view of the universe, when there is a satelite launched towards jupiter or something.
What about the fact that all equations attempting to figure out where an object will be in X years will come out wrong if you assume a geocentric solar system or universe? You know, like what Gallileo used to prove the heliocentirc solar system?
Nobody can prove that the Earth revolves around the sun, or that the sun revolves around the Earth. That's why I believe in neither of those two "theories."
I believe the universe is egocentric. Everything revolves around me! You just don't want to admit it because it'll shatter your worldview; you atheists don't want to admit that there is a god, and the Christians don't want to admit that I'm that god.
I've been persecuted for having an egocentric worldview, yes. Most people think I'm a self-centered jerk. Well, yeah! Duh! "EGOCENTRIC!" I'm God! Just accept it. It's the Truth!
After all: If the Earth revolves around the sun, how come it doesn't collapse in? The law of gravity says it would! Galileons keep making up excuses like momentum, but has any of it been proven? No! The geocentrists have a bigger problem: Why wouldn't the Sun fall to Earth? It's bigger and heavier, right?
The Earth and Sun can only remain separate if an intelligent force keeps them that way. It can't be a distant god; how would that god do it if he's not here? The only explaination is that both the Sun and the Earth revolve around me.
Remember: If you can't come up with an alternate theory that you can convince me to accept, then I must be right by definition!
We're quite familiar with Modern Geocentricity.
Sun - big and round. Earth, relatively small in comparison, but also round.
The only known instance of the big round thingy being subject to the environment of the small round thingy, when the big round thingy is incredibly dense; is shown below:

Is this that modern geocentricity you talk of?
<<< Please read Dr. Bouw's book : "Geocentricity". >>>
Only if you read a real science book first, preferably one that covers Kepler's Laws and Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation.
<<< Get some knowledge of what your dealing with before ridiculing it. >>>
Epicycles.
That's the shape of the orbits of all the planets, using Earth as a reference point. Gravity cannot cause such an orbit to form, at least not in our solar system. That is why the idea was abandoned in the first place.
Do not presume ignorance of your critics. You are quite likely to be wrong. I know all I need to know to ridicule geocentricity.
<<< lol , you guys are morons. >>>
<<< Wow, you guys are morons. >>>
Not only is this ad hominem , it's not even creative ad hominem . You couldn't even be bothered to come up with two different insults?
Bob_Zimmerman is right, but I doubt RichardT even thought about that.
Actually, at the time I knew that. Except I grew in knowledge since then.
modern geocentricity?
Is that an oxymoron?
I'm perfectly comfortable with the idea that the solar system is not geocentric. Besides, I think people like RT are insufferable enough, think of how much worse it would be if the earth was the center of the solar system. We'd never hear the end of how special humans must be because everything revolves around this speck of dirt we live on.
Confused?
