My husband asked me to tape it for him. I did tape it without realizing it wasn't edited for language. I'll tell my husband about it not being edited. We will probably wait for the movie to arrive from <a href="http://www.cleanfilms.com/">http://www.cleanfilms.com/</a> Joining that movie rental service is one of the best things I've ever signed up for. Even my husband is enjoying the more recent war movies from them because they cut out the bad language. My daughter is thrilled because she can see more movies now because the sexual scenes, bad language and the more violent scenes are cut out. It's been quite a blessing.

this isn't fundie, it's someone who tamed down movies so her kid can watch them. maybe not an admirable thing to do, but just because it's on RR doesn't make it fundie.

Perhaps not, but such Bowdlerism should certainly be considered a crime against recorded art of any form, of a similar magnitude to outright book burning. If the original author intended their work to contain adult, controversial or disturbing material, excising it is a corruption of their intent and the work can no longer be considered to be accurately representative of their artistic voice or anything they were trying to convey - as a particularly heinous example, take the 1863 version of Les Miserables that was popular with confederate troops during the American civil war, and apparently had all references to slavery removed from it; that's where censoring work to avoid offending an audience can ultimately lead. Much of the greatest art is great precisely because it was specifically intended to break convention and offend sensibilities, and in doing so shake people out of various dogmas and comfort zones and make them think a little more about the world.

Fundies censoring sexual content in the media only serves to worsen their prudery and horror of any open discussion or liberal interpretation of sexuality, censoring controversial depictions of moral ambiguity or immorality will merely serve to leave the audience so much less equipped to handle moral controversy when they encounter it in real life, and censoring profanity will have similar effects - you can expect to encounter all these things in real life, and depicting the world without them only serves to make fundies' idiotic, prudish ideal world view even more divorced from any sense of realism or practicality and increase their tendency to recoil from and denounce reality altogether on those occasions when they would actually be required to engage with it.
