Titanic scarred me for life and I can never view s-x as a positive thing. [tut tut smiley].

Just wanted to mention that I watched Titanic (and self-censored the word "s-x"... although I also partially do that to annoy others) over four years before I became a Christian, and was 12 at the time. I agree with the comments about the movie being rather boring, though.
"Titanic scarred me for life and I can never view s-x as a positive thing"
"Jesus Camp" scarred me for life, and I can never view right-wing fundy Christianity as a positive thing.
The former was a fictionalised scenario based on an actual historical event. The latter is a documentary. As in what is shown is REAL.
And that's the difference.
@deathbird
"My Fart Will Go On" screeched out by Sealion Dion will do that to you. But the line 'I believe that the hot dogs will go on' makes me chortle so. Mondegreens* FTW!

@rubber chicken
"Is it because two thousand people have gone down on you as well ?"

Huh? Yeah, all those people freezing to death on the Atlantic was pretty scary.
s-x? Don't you mean fx? All the special effects in that movie are kind of unnerving.
Seriously, wasn't there just lots of steam and sweaty bodies and a hand on a window? Hardly any "naughty parts" at all?
I think the scenes with Rose and her prospective husband are way scarier. He was truly a wrong'un.
So, then, you're rejecting a beautiful gift from God -- the joy of being able to share ultimate closeness and pleasure with someone -- because of a cheesy movie.
Might as well cross you off the "to be raptured" list.
I'm going to have to agree on the first part. I was a big Titanic nut when I was younger (one of the first books I can concretely remember reading was the the testimonies of the survivors before the US Senate. I was about 8 or 9 when it came out, and I had seen some sort of in-depth look at the effects beforehand and I really wanted to see the movie. I had to wait until I was 13 (Yes, my parents didn't want us seeing PG-13 movies before we were 13, but that is neither here nor there) Titanic was one of the first movies I saw after I turned 13 and It was...bad. Whenever Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio were not on screen, it was a good movie. When either of the two main characters were on-screen, it was so obnoxious. It was like James Cameron took it upon himself to rape my childhood. Here was the backdrop of a lot of day-dreams, taken over by two "love-birds." The movie was just so shallow and it focused on the pair to the detriment of one of the major disasters of the 20th century. And the sex-scenes just seemed tacked on, like James Cameron could only expect us to know they liked each other if they fucked. However, I'm pretty sure my intrinsic disgust towards genitalia come from being so deeply ingrained in paraphillia, not from any single movie I saw before I even went through puberty.
The movie or the actual sea voyage? I can understand the latter. How can a movie scar you for life, and what has anything else to do with six?
Did you think she should have allowed herself to be sold off as a commodity to a man she did not care for, and who did not care for her? The short fling made her strong enough to take her destiny in her own hands.
Good thing he saw it now.
I can't imagine what Jiggy's reaction would be if he sees it after James Cameron rereleases it in 3d theatrically in 2012. Imagine... Kate Winslet's breasts poking RIGHT OUT at you.
Makes me shudder just thinking about it.
@ Anon-e-moose: YES! I knew there had to be at least one other person out there who heard "hot dogs."
And re: OP - I was scarred by seeing Kate Winslet in the nude, however briefly. Not because I think she's ugly, but because at that point in my life I had very little appreciation for the human form (stupid RC upbringing).
But . . . I got over it. How about trying that on for size?
A pity the real Titanic wasn't loaded to the roof with fundies. Like the old lawyer joke, that would have been a good start.
And you reallyu do need to get a life if the movie could have that sort of effect on you.
Hello, Jiggy37. It's always a little interesting to see someone show up in the comments of their own quotes. I hope you're having a good day.
However, you may want to consider staying away from here in the future: people here can get very aggressive about their own beliefs, partially because they often lump anyone who has an unusual belief in with unfathomably horrible people like the Westboro Baptist Church. Judging by some of the other comments preceding me, it looks like you already took the brunt of FSTDT's ire, but if you ever come back here, just know that not everyone on this site is quite as... ardent in their criticism.
Seriously, I can't really think of any way for visiting this site to make you a happier person: from your perspective, it must be like getting ambushed by rabid Internet howler monkeys.
Anyway, vaya con Dios.
Confused?
