Maybe not. She got into this mess by way of Christianity. What she needs is some proper medications, some high-quality psychiatric counselling and relief from Christianity.
As for \"most mental illness is the result of unrepentant sin,\" SHUT UP YOU FUCKING ASSBITE. You don't know what you're are talking about.

I was about to say \"I didn't know you could be born with unrepentant sin\" before I caught myself. Yes, you can. And damn is that stupid.

Napoleon the Clown
You know, I was afflicted with my bipolar more as a Christian than as an evil atheist. I think that says something.
7/29/2006 10:58:09 PM
Your ignorance is so pure and unmitigated that it verges on the sublime!
7/29/2006 11:30:01 PM
Dang, I'm so uncomapassionate I feel like flaming myself here!
Isn't there some insult to insert here about me not pissing on you even if you were on fire?
7/30/2006 12:20:55 AM
Allow me to provide the gasoline and matches
7/30/2006 12:31:59 AM
Wow, even Tom Cruise thinks this guy is an asshole.
7/30/2006 1:01:59 AM
Fuck you, you ignorant asshole.
7/30/2006 2:22:45 AM
You know, I don't recall 'God' cursing Eve with stretchmarks or cursing Adam to find them unattractive.
Now given that the Bible is a work of man used to explain his world through anthropormophisation, superstition, myth, hearsay, wishful thinking and allegory; it would be safe to say people didn't give a shit about stretchmarks until very recently and the rise of the beauty myth and the corporate need to sell their miracle creams. (Hey, that sounds exactly like inventing hell to sell the bible).
Therefore it is quite apparent that is some ways, some ignorant portions of society, Lex, are actually regressing quite tragically. A pack of bloodthirsty, mysogynistic, rapists actually had a better appreciation of women than you do.

Let me guess: All Andrea Yates needs to do is take vitamins and exercise to get rid of her psychopathology, right?
7/30/2006 4:32:26 AM
Yeah, and she drowned her children in the belief that it would save them from the results of \"unrepentant sin.\"
7/30/2006 6:21:57 AM
Andrea Yates needed professional medical help, not sanctimonious scorn from the very kinds of people who encourage that sort of madness.
Yet, indeed, the fact that you at least recognize your lack of compassion seems to tweak your conscience just the tiniest little bit. I wonder if there might be some hope for you after all. It probably depends on whether you ever allow that spark of self-recognition any oxygen whatsoever, or just strangle it. The choice is yours.

Sadly, the reality of human psychology doesn't bear that out.
Smooth skin is a sign of youth, and male brains are hardwired to find youth sexy. Why? Because in the wild, the younger the woman (down to around age 15 or so), the greater her chances of being able to bear healthy babies. Stretch marks are an indicator of a woman who's lived long enough to have already had a baby, and so (A) she has less fertile years ahead of her than a younger woman, and worse, (B) she might still be nursing her baby, which can actually inhibit ovulation and/or zygote implantation some of the time.

Fairish point tracer, but not really so. Really, would they turn you off that much? That's just a slight aesthetic preference - there's far, far more obvious positive signals. Shall we go with the 17yr old with stretch marks that's popped out your first kid? Are you going to call her unattractive now her hips and breasts have filled out even more?
And back to the biblical standards which was the topic of conversation with fundy Lex.
Things in the bible that were unattractive.
* Shaved heads: They shaved the heads of women to humiliate them. It was the sign they'd done something bad. If you saw them, you knew they were damaged goods.
* STDs: God was always putting the pox or botch on scandalous women or women who got to uppity. That was one of the main reasons why there was such an obsession with virgins.
The bible actually talks about the mother of you children being greater in status than your concubines and you should love her more. Never does it say she's uglier or less desirable.
Stretch marks were never an issue until women's magazines and cosmetic companies made them one.

@Julian: \"inventing hell to sell the bible\"
I fucking love that.
I'm not too compassionate about comas either.
\"Most depression - postpartum or otherwise - and most mental illness is the result of unrepentant sin.\"
So Dr. Lex Rex, is being an unwavering asshole the result of unrepentant sin, or is that because your parents were sister and brother?
