Quote# 13429

Josef Stalin, Mao Tse-Dung, Adolph Hitler and Pol Pot are all tyrannical megalomaniacs who together killed more than 100 MILLION human beings in less than 50 years.
All have one thing in common besides breathing air:
They held EVOLUTION to be a fact.

You may be on to something here. They all also slept almost every night! (You can't be sure they didn't have some sleepless nights.) There must be some sort of correlation between sleep and genocide!

Do we really need to play this game?

They all slept, that's true. They all ate, too! And probably drank liquids! And maybe even talked! Thus, if you eat, sleep, or talk, you must have killed millions of people. Logic is fun when you ignore the rules!

They had a hell of a lot more in common than that. And of all of them, evolution is not the one likely to have a causal relationship.

Unless you give Hitler and Stalin credit for all WWII deaths (which is, at least in Hitler's case, somewhat justifiable), 100 million sounds like an exaggeration. Stalin hit 30 million, Hitler about 6 million (not including war deaths), and I don't think Pol Pot and Mao combined for 64 million.

But do you really want me to go into how many people have been killed by Christians?

Yup. They also ate food, scratched their noses and could read. So from now on food, itches and education are definitely NOT OK, or you may turn into a power crazed meglomaniac.

Fine Print: This is not a conclusive list and other forbidden activities and beliefs may be added without notice

Believing that agriculture allows people to grow food.
Believing in something so strongly they were willing to ignore morality to get it.

I'll leave you free to speculate which one of these may have caused them to kill people. My list is non-conclusive, so other people can add to it at any time without anyone's permission and without providing any notice.

You know, every serial killer in the last 5,000 years ate bread...

Oh no, I'm becoming one of them!

I'm betting that the number of people killed by christians in the name of god far surpasses your hundred million.

Well, apart from this being irrelevant bollocks as others have pointed out ... it isn't even true. Stalin didn't think Darwinian evolution was a fact; he promoted neo-Lamarckian ideas instead. So nyer.

Correlation does not prove causation -- and he even has the correlation wrong. Obviously this was another child left behind.

Tiny Bulcher is right about Stalin. One similar point about Hitler is that, while he had Evolution-like beliefs, they were anti-scientific perversions of evolution.

Most importantly, Hitler considered evolution to have a real direction and that different creatures can be \"more\" or \"less\" evolved as they are closer or further from evolution's goal. This allowed him to claim that people who weren't as close to his ideal were lessers, but the whole idea is complete bullshit. Evolution says no such thing.

That, and nothing about evolution would cause anyone to dislike Jews. It takes centuries of religious hatred for \"killing our savior\" to do that.

\"Most importantly, Hitler considered evolution to have a real direction and that different creatures can be \"more\" or \"less\" evolved as they are closer or further from evolution's goal. \"

But the thumpers think thats what evolution really is.

That whole attitude has always amazed me. If Christians really believe that Jesus had to die in order for their sins to be redeemed, shouldn't they be thanking the folks who killed him?

You do? Well, you're horribly mistaken.

Okay, considering Pol Pot felt the way about intellectuals that Hitler felt about Jews and Stalin felt about any dissidents whatsoever, I'm pretty sure he wasn't big on scientific findings.

They all also believed in gravity, but that's also not the reason they killed all those people.

Who's Mao Tse-Dung? I've heard of Mao Zedong but never Mao Tse-Dung.

Yes, nevermind the fact that they were all TOTALITARIANS.

Stalin banned Darwin's books.

And even if this statement were true, it would still be a retarded argument.

They all had a little something hanging between their legs, as well.
All men must be tyrannical megalomaniacs, then?

Nah, why should they? Most men that I know are nice, intelligent, emphatic and generous. As are most people that I know who hold evolution to be a fact (which is like 98.5 % of all people I know).
