Quote# 134740

One. Christian numbers are not dropping. They are increasing by the day. In China it is something like 10,000 day. In India it is thousands. In the Middle East muslims are converting to christianity in droves because Jesus is appearing to them in dreams and visions.

I know that you want their numbers to be dropping but it ain't the case. Even in America, over the last fifty years the numbers have remained constant.

I don't know what religion does as I am not involved in it. My faith is based on a relationship with a person so I don't need religion.
Sorry to say for you, I don't have an ego as I am dead and my life is hid with Christ in God.

Pascal's wager is only a poor argument if you are on the wrong end of it which atheists are. If it is true and it is, then you are a complete fool to say it is a poor argument.

But then atheist specialise in denial to avoid the truth.

But in China, it has to be one of the state run and approved three Christian churches. Anything else and the CCP will come down on you.

I'm SO responding to this. I freakin' hate Pascal's Wager.

@ KingofRhye - Why? Have you lost a lot of money betting the wrong way?

12/1/2017 4:12:37 PM

@Bob J

LOL, no, I just think it's a stupid argument.

In the Middle East muslims are converting to christianity in droves

Define "droves". One or two a year?

Your screename speaks volumes - perhaps subconsciously, methinks - of your talking complete bollocks.

12/1/2017 4:38:06 PM

Well, I don't know the actual stats and don't feel like looking them up, but I wouldn't be surprised if the absolute number of Christians is still very slowly going up, but the percentage relative to world population is going down. Or that China is allowing people to be openly Christian, but they were Christian all along, so only the total counted is increasing, not the actual number.

Pascal's wager requires one to be completely ignorant on the concept of belief. You can decide what to say or what to do, but not what to believe. If there were a god, are you telling me that he wouldn't even be able to tell who really believes and who just claims it as a matter of convenience?

12/1/2017 4:53:25 PM

Your numbers are not increasing, your lying is truly pathetic.

The Angry Dybbuk

When someone says, "I don't have an ego," everything around that claim will be just as full of shit if not more so.

And Pascal's Wager is a poor argument for belief not just because it invites people to bet on the "safe" side for wholly self-serving reasons, but also because it offers a false choice between two avenues: 'Standard' Christian theism versus every species of unbelief, full stop.

The Wager breaks down with one simple question: What if the Creator is not the Christian god or anything like it?

The username makes me think poe. If not poe then at least he admits he lies in his username.

Sorry everybody. My bad in typing his name. It should be "TruthvLies"

Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out! –shy

Churchy LaFemme

Pascal's Wager is seriously flawed because it assumes only two alternatives. What happens if you die and find out you have to defend your life and lack of belief to Odin or Zeus?

12/2/2017 9:12:49 AM

It's all good.

But Pascal's Wager forgets that there are other faiths. Perhaps I am right and there are many from all sorts of pantheons. Maybe even more than the ones I revere and believe in. Maybe just one but not yours. And let us use my beliefs if that is alright. So with mine it is not whether you believe in any or other deities. Or worship them. It is in how you live. Do you treat others well? Do you try to help those in need? Do you treat others with respect and dignity?

Also if numbers are growing I guess you're not persecuted

But if the numbers get too high, then there's going to be a big squish.
