Laughter defies evolution... something is funny no matter whether you have evolved or not (I have verified this with thousands of jokes that I don't have to think of myself as evolved to enjoy).

Nowhere in the Babble does it say that Jebus laughed, therefore Gottservant's laughter is unscriptural at best.
In fact, he's very probably blaspheming by wilfully contorting his facial features into the likeness of a grinning ape (rather than the image of his deity in which they were supposedly created).
Laughter is somewhat hard to analyse, but that doesn't mean it defies evolution. The last hypothesis I encountered was that laughter evolved as a false-alarm signal, to inform others that a situation thought to be dangerous is actually safe. The analogy presented was of a person walking along and falling over, say, a banana skin - one's initial response is one of concern for his safety, but then he gets up, unscathed - false alarm, possibly triggering laughter (in someone with an unrefined sense of humour, at any rate). I can't remember exactly where I heard it, but it might have been Prof. Ramachandran on the Reith Lectures a year or so ago.
Pratchett also mentions the power of laughter, even forced laughter, to defuse tense situations in Night Watch.
Actually, laughter has been argued to be a result of evolutionary processes, as a part of the "language process". Please, try again.
Well, um you need to understand the reference in which the joke is told, why its funny, and then if it even is funny. I'm sure some thing like babies falling down (short distances mind you) or dudes getting hit in the nuts is funny to all humans. But, hey i do not need to deconstruct and analyze it; it is stupid on its own. That or Gott is using meta humor by makking a stupid statement about laughter he is makking a deep joke.
Yeah thats it

Whether you believe yourself to have evolved or not does not affect whether you actually have or not.
Confused?
