Wow. The stupid flows strong in JohnR7 today. Do you think he really doesn't know that Darwin actually based his theories on, y'know, EVIDENCE that he gathered HIMSELF while on a MULTI-YEAR VOYAGE in the GALAPAGOS ISLANDS?
He probably doesn't. Just like he doesn't know anything else. I'll have to hop over to CF and lay the Holy Smackdown of the Almighty Hammer of Fallacy on him.
Should be fun.
Edit: Oh, noes!! Teh modz have clozed the thred for reevyew!
They claim \"flaming.\" Gargh. Now I can't blast John!

\"About the only place you can find any acceptance for evolutionary theory is in the ivory towers of the universitys. You do not find it out in the real world, because it does not work in the real world.
...
It is not something that he used or developed in a real world situation. Or anything that anyone has used or developed in a real world situation. No one has ever found a way to develop it in a practical way. Real science has rejected it from the beginning. Not the ivory tower science, but the movers and the shakers. The people who are out there in the real world getting the job done.\"

So? Even if Darwin worked as a map maker, that does not invalidate evolution. The inventor of reinforced concrete was just looking for a way to make larger pots for his plants (oranges if I remember correctly). Does this mean that reinforced concrete is just a fantasy spread from those ivory towers?

\"Darwin worked as a map maker for the first five years after he finished his school. But after that, he sat down and did nothing for the rest of his life. It could be that he got sick during that 5 years. But after that, evolution was a hobby for him. Something that he thought about to use up all the time he had.\"

More and more I'm picturing JohnR7 locked in a padded room, with no contact to the outside world, left to create his own sense of reality.

\"About the only place you can find any acceptance for evolutionary theory is in the ivory towers of the universitys.\"
That's untrue. I accept the ToE and I do not work in a university.
I find it amusing that Fundies often attack the ToE, and other ideas that scare them, as being the product of or supported by the intelligent people, as if being stupid and uneducated is somehow better and more noble.
\"You do not find it out in the real world, because it does not work in the real world.\"
Just because YOU don't understand it, Johnny, doesn't mean that it doesn't work.
Also, since you and your pals live under the delusions of Xian theology, I submit that YOU are not living in the real world. Plenty of us who do not believe in omnipotent imaginary friends accept the ToE, and understand how it works. we are the one's in the real world.
\"Darwin worked as a map maker for the first five years after he finished his school. But after that, he sat down and did nothing for the rest of his life.\"
You've never read Darwin's books nor have you read non-Fundie histories of Darwin. That makes you utterly unqualified to comment on Darwin's works or life, so SHUT UP!
\"It could be that he got sick during that 5 years. But after that, evolution was a hobby for him. Something that he thought about to use up all the time he had.'
You just got through tell us that Darwin did nothing after his 5 years as a map-maker. You can't even write 3 sentences and keep your story straight.
\"It is not something that he used or developed in a real world situation. Or anything that anyone has used or developed in a real world situation. No one has ever found a way to develop it in a practical way.\"
Well, yeah, except for modern medicine, genetics, agriculture, etc..
\"Real science has rejected it from the beginning.\"
So, modern medicine, genetics and agriculture are not \"real science?\" Fundie morons have rejected it, but not most scientists.
\"Not the ivory tower science, but the movers and the shakers.\"
So, the smart people accept the ToE, but Fundie morons who work for Bekins or have Parkinson's disease don't accept it?
\"The people who are out there in the real world getting the job done.\"
The people who are out there in the real world getting the job done with tools and strategies invented and developed by the smart people who accept the ToE.

I looked, but I couldn't find any reference to Darwin being a mapmaker (outside of John-R-stupid's imagination). Darwin was at school (Christ's College, Cambridge, where he was preparing for a career as a christian clergyman) when he was given the opportunity to serve on the Beagle as a naturalist so he could help identify the flora and fauna of the areas the ship visited.
He did catch a tropical illness during his travels, but he later became a famed author, lecturer, and head of the Geological Society. I would hardly qualify that as \"doing nothing for the rest of his life.\"
Doing nothing with one's life is a more apt description of idiots who post lies on Christian Forums.

I think it got shut down because posters were intentionally posting that they were going to \"wait for JohnR7 to show up so they could smack him down.\"
And JR7 himself derailed the thread into a completely off-topic post.

True or not, what's the diff? Einstein came up with the Theory of Relativity, another one of the great discoveries of humanity, while working in a patent office.
\"You do not find it out in the real world, because it does not work in the real world.\"
I had no idea the Galapagos Islands was a fictional place.
\"Not the ivory tower science, but the movers and the shakers.\"
If the movers and shakers of \"real\" science aren't in \"universitys\", then where are they?
*Sigh* All I can think of here is a line from an MC Hawking tune: \"On blind faith they place reliance, what we need more of is science!\"

JohnR7 is making the same kind of argument that poor students use to make in High School. \"Nobody needs calculus, except the engineers. I'm going to be a famous theologian, so I don't need to learn calculus.\"
The ignorant and the unlearned certainly do not need and may, in fact, reject evolution. That has no bearing whatsoever on its truth.
