Occam's razor doesn't imply the shortest response...just the most likely/simplest. And seeing how some divine being hasn't poofed some bizarre, never before seen creature in existence since the beginning of time, evolution seems more likely.

What'd I Do
As previously stated, Occam's Razor does not say, "Pick the one that you can say in a single breath and that's the one most likely to be true." It says "Pick the one that relies on the fewest assumptions and possesses the fewest gaps in observation and that's the one most likely to be true."
