oh, and all this time i just thought it was a pasttime for 30 year olds who live in their mom's basement. guess you learn something new every day.

Yes, nothing says \"tool of Satan\" like sitting around a table, drinking Pepsi and making bad jokes and movie references. I can feel the Evil One corrupting my spirit with every roll of a d20.
8/22/2006 6:53:07 AM
Actually, DnD is one of the more social of the nerd hobbies. While things such as comic book collecting and computer programming allow the geek the freedom to remain isolated Dungeons and Dragons forces geeks to band together and develop at least some social skills.
8/22/2006 6:58:40 AM
The bible is the tool of satan. Without the bible know one would know he existed and no one would try to get into his favor.

Uh\\, Just some guy....Ruler of Omicron Persei 8
When I go to a sporting event and they do a prayer and everyone is bowing their heads, I feel like I'm surrounded by Dungeons and Dragons geeks. It's scary. What causes some peoples minds to never give up on playing make-believe?
8/22/2006 7:42:30 AM
Actually... I thought this was kinda funny... a fundie with a sense of humour award?
Can you imagine Satans disapointment? He spends an aeon forging the ultimate tool for the corruption of mankind, and he produces from the Pit... AD+D... and instead of recruiting conan the barbarian look alike satanic fanatics... he gets a bunch of fat sweaty basement dweller virgins, with bad beards, bad BO, and an over developed sense of just how good a friend to a boy a Mum is...
8/22/2006 8:23:33 AM
If D&D is his top-of-the-line weapon, he's really losing his edge.
8/22/2006 8:28:29 AM
Just be grateful they're content to sit in their basements rolling dodecahedrons and icosahedrons instead of taking over the world. One Bill Gates per generation is quite enough.
Oh and Satan doesn't exist. If you're an asshole, don't blame it on your imaginary fiend.
8/22/2006 8:32:12 AM
Satan named his penis 'Dungeons and Dragons'?
8/22/2006 8:56:03 AM
No, Satan named one of his less potent penes, 'Dungeons and Dragons'.
8/22/2006 8:58:35 AM
Wolf O'Donnell (SWHQ)
I don't really think Satan would go for a dorky tool.
8/22/2006 9:26:19 AM
I take offense. Dungeons and Dragons is a Role-Playing Game.
D20 is a tool of Satan.
8/22/2006 11:08:15 AM
Well, if he´s so inept, why are we seeing so much of his \"art\" in Lebanon right now, just to refer to a little one?. Oh no, but for you that is not evil, is patriotic. Evil is women praying ocus pocus in a pentagram or people having sex out of marriage.
8/22/2006 11:50:47 AM
You know what else is a tool of Satan? Pancakes. They are devilishly delicious!
8/22/2006 12:12:51 PM
That's just funny.
8/22/2006 12:26:41 PM
Fantasy Football is the DnD of people who beat up people who play DnD...
8/22/2006 12:51:05 PM
TammyFaye: lose the stereotyping, would you? It insults us all.
Tim Wilkins: again with the stereotyping, cut it out already!
Nostromo: insult not the holy D20!
Honestly, there are indeed fat sweaty momma's boy gamers with pathetically poor hygene and no life. There are also slighty overweight college-going gamer geeks with plenty of concern for hygene who have a reasonably active social life (like me, dammit!). So stop with the stereotyping already!
8/22/2006 1:08:18 PM
well they can't all be \"Left Behind\" now can they? (snark)
8/22/2006 1:41:53 PM
Thank you, Hadanelith. I was going to say much the same thing as that last paragraph of yours; that \"middle-aged loser geek\" stereotype is as bad a mischaracterization as the one the fundie makes in this post. (Actually it's worse, since there ARE a number of those people -- but it is unfair to tar all gamers with the same brush, just as it is unfair to claim that all gays are flamers, or that all Christians are fundies.)
8/22/2006 1:48:03 PM
Tak, the Hideous New Girl
It's one of his more dorky, socially inept tools though.
Hey! I have a Elven Bard with 17 Charisma that begs to differ! :)
8/22/2006 2:00:24 PM
I bet they only attack D&D because they suck at it.
8/22/2006 2:05:20 PM
Dungeons and Dragons forces geeks to band together and develop at least some social skills.
No, generally it just allows them to band together and reinforce their complete lack of social skills.
But Magic is worse.
8/22/2006 2:37:47 PM
Napoleon the Clown
No, it isn't.
8/22/2006 2:53:10 PM
... Eh, he's got us there.
8/22/2006 3:07:43 PM
Let's not be too hard on those of us who enjoy AD&D and other RPGs. I've been an RPGer for 30+ years and have never been a dork, geek nor \"tool of Satan,\" nor have I lived in my mommy's basement.
