You and thousands of other deluded fuckwits! Get your shit, hop on a plane and go duke it out in Jerusalem - there's a few hundred there. Then start going round all the prisons and mental hospitals, there's thousands more there. Then take on the other internet fuckwits!
If you want to know for sure, just ask George Bush at his next press conference, or Jerry Falwell, or Oral Roberts or any number of fundie idiots. They all claim that godjesus speaks to them directly. What do you suppose they would say about this guy?
I especially like the woman who answered the doubter; the guy says "How do you know he's God?"
The woman responds, "When Jesus of Nazareth came, did everyone think he was God?"
In other words, "Anyone can announce that they're the Lord, and I'll believe them! If it seems highly unlikely, then I'll be even more convinced! Up is down! Freedom is slavery!"
I enjoyed the raging debate on the comment section there about how Jesus was a man of "power, money and influence." That made me chuckle.
Especially the person who claimed owing a donkey was the equivelent of owning a Mercedes. HA! (Lots of poor farmers owned donkeys and other animals, and besides, the Bible clearly states the donkey Jesus rode was borrowed. These people need to at least read the book they are decrying...).
I also liked the person who claimed Jesus was rich because he wore a purple robe. Double HA! Jesus us only shown wearing a purple robe in European art, and the purple was used as a symbol. The only time Jesus is described as wearing a purple robe in the bible is when one was placed on him after his arrest to mock him.
He had a treasurer because they essentially lived as a mobile commune and someone had to carry the cash.
I like some good, healthy, skeptical analysis of the bible, but come on, at least they should get their facts straight. Otherwise you just make all of us skeptics look stupid.
Something tells me that if Jesus did return, he wouldn't be as widely accepted as this guy. In fact, his own followers would probably lynch him because he doesn't agree that they should kill homosexuals or something.
I also enjoyed the comments on the video... Jesus didn't have money; he was the son of a carpenter. His APOSTLES had money. Not to mention that the J-Man had a lot to say about giving to the poor, as opposed to hoarding the money for yourself.
When I was five, I proclaimed myself to be (similar to) a god. (The family was quite secular; I wouldn't have known to use the term "god.") At the time, my stubborn insistance was deemed some form of abnormality, and people suggested therapy if I kept it up.
In hindsight, I now realize if I had called myself "Jesus" instead of my own made-up name, then people would forget about therapy and throw money at me.
Why is mental illness is a disability when called by its name, but a virtue when called "religion?"
Confused?
