Stem cell research is retarded. Screw it. Why do we need to live more than 50 years when most of us waste that time anyway?

So I can kill you at age 50 and you won't mind?

Nick:
Why not? This person's brain obviously died long before now.

\"Stem cell research is retarded. Screw it.\"

Yet another piercing criticism. Were you referring to embryonic stem cell research or just stem cell research in general? And on that note, I suppose you also find antibiotics, antiseptics, and other major medical advances to be \"retarded\" as well?

...I responded seriously. I am ashamed.

Because some of us has work to do even at 50, like keeping the world from blowing itself up.

The mess that I will have to clean in the future scares me.

8/27/2006 3:19:13 PM

Incubusion

Fascinating. Do you have any other gems of brilliance to spout off?

8/27/2006 3:27:57 PM

Rockstar

Right. Let's just rid rid of all the old people, since they're useless anyway.

Papabear

\"Stem cell research is retarded.\"

Just because you don't understand it, that doesn't mean it's stupid. It may mean that YOU'RE stupid, though.

\"Screw it.\"

Thank you, no. Test tubes and petri dishes hurt my dick.

\"Why do we need to live more than 50 years when most of us waste that time anyway?\"

Yeah, when one is 11 it kind of seems that way. You get back to me when you're 50 and we can see how you feel about it then.

Yeah, why on earth should I want to live past retirement age and actually stop working and enjoy the fruits of my labour?

8/27/2006 4:18:23 PM

ProperJob

Damn right. Why bother making the most of my remaining life or helping to improve humanity's plight when I can frolic around in the magical sky fairy's place?

8/27/2006 4:25:00 PM

Lord Zeruel

<<Yeah, why on earth should I want to live past retirement age and actually stop working and enjoy the fruits of my labour?>>

You're actually expecting to retire at some point? I wish I had your optimism.

8/27/2006 4:33:40 PM

Sandman

Um, maybe because stem cell research might allow someone to live past, oh, say birth?

Great, another case of projectile stupidity. \"I don't understand why it's important, so IT is 'retarded'.\" I think the mental limitation is a bit closer to home there, yarinaosu.

Also, yeah, let's see you convince anyone that 50 is a worthwhile cutoff age, or that we \"waste\" all our time thereafter. Many people's highest professional achievements come after 50, and there are myriad examples of people who are productive well into their 80s and 90s -- nearly twice the limitation you would place on their lives. And that's not even counting the personal aspect, simply the joy of living; this does not end just because a person is more than 50 years old!

Yes, as Papabear says, 50 sounds quite ancient when you're a child. Grow up a little, though, and let's see if you can get a it more perspective here.

I'm not entirely convinced this is fundie (though there's a pretty good chance it is; only two sorts of people typically have such a depressing outlook on life - goths and fundies), but it's still one of the most depressingly stupid things I've ever read.

Also this whole curing disease and ending suffering thing is highly overrated.

Bad news, yarinaosu...

You have cancer. Bitch.

Dante's Virgil

Then do us all a favor, if you truly think life is that big of a waste and off yourself. You're taking up resources that someone else could use.

Okay, we'll deny you any sort of medical aid. But everyone else gets to benefit.

OK, Lord Zeruel, you got me there. But it still beats being dead. And don't say it so loud, or the whole capitalist economy might collapse when people decide the rat race is a mugs' game and go and build aeroponic greenhouses and use that spare food money to pay off their debts and live a decent life. (Hint - that's MY plan! Well, one of them.)

If you can't see the value in living another 50, why do you even live the years you have? Just kill yourself and spare the rest of us your company.

Has anyone read yarinaosu's no sex thing? Someone needs to get laid...

Kelian

I read this to my husband. He says \"Fuck You.\"

He turned 50 this year heh.

Seriously, if you don't think there is life after 50, then you need to reexamine your own life. I, for one, don't consider any of my life a waste of time.

Maby stem cell research will help those that live 15 years.

Yeah, I just turned 50 in July and I concur on the \"Fuck You\"

Ahahahaa. Read the community rules:

We are not hateful of other religions. We accept others, but know who WE are.

and then:

RULES:

1. NO liberals.
2. NO Democrats.
3. NO Anti-Bush.
4. NO Anti-Christian talk.
5. NO Pro-choice feminists.

and

1. We allow free speech, to those who fit this community. This speech is unhindered. However, since free speech means that you have the right to speak, and if you aren't Christian and Republican, then you already have tons of ability to speak freely in every other place where we do not. Thus, only Christian Republicans have free speech here.

While I don't agree with his point about stem cell research. I do feel that he has a point about a lot of people wasting their lifes [at times].
