Personally, I would say that by subjecting them to a long, drawn-out war with no exit strategy and no clear and stable objectives that was based on faulty intelligence in the first place, Bush is the one not supporting the troops.

Actually, they want effective homeland security, protections for our rights, and informed strategy in our wars. That's just as far as the war on terror. On the home front they want a strong economy, well-educated children, more effective justice, and a slide back more towards following the rules and principles our government was founded upon.Liberals do not care about the poor. Any Liberals that supports the destruction to Israel should be put in some sort of concentration camp. They will then realize what suffering is all about. Will they then be given their own homeland? (Non sequitur, anyone?) I'm not much of a critic of Israel (so take my depiction of these arguments with some healthy skepticism), but the liberals I've read that are critics really only have two, maybe three, arguments.
1. It wasn't rightfully theirs in the first place.
I don't completely agree with this, but it's an argument that some scholarly people have made. They usually mean this morally, rather than legally.
2. They've been behaving very badly.
They are a little quick on the trigger, but at the same time remarkably patient and concerned with the morality of what they're doing. (Contradictions, of course!) Quite a bit of it can be seen as, well... overkill with good intentions, resulting in the inevitable backlash. (Which then causes... yeah.)
Liberals are sometimes for the "turn the other cheek" method. Or more often just the "don't strike so hard so often" method, also known as "don't help them dress you up as evil." I call it: "don't be your own worst enemy."
3. It just isn't worth it.
A Jewish homeland with all its religious sites is bullshit. There's nothing much to gain there. On the other hand, the conflicts centering around Israel are causing worldwide chaos.
But what does any of this have to do with liberals knowing suffering? And how is it a fault on the part of the liberals ? This isn't some great personal failure or lack of virtue. This is just a conclusion some people reach. We may disagree. We don't have to demonize.
Our great president has done his best to make this world a better place and to rid of the Islamic Facist scumbags. Washington did this? Jefferson? Madison? Adams? Lincoln? One of the Roosevelts? Polk? Clinton? Nixon ?

Those that do not support Bush, do not support our troops. It takes only two things to support troops, neither of which involves loving Bush. (Yes, it was possible to support troops before Bush was even born.)
1. Do not waste them.
Send them in only when necessary. They aren't easy cash to be spent on any little thing that comes along. These are people . People that had faith enough in us to put their lives in our hands.
2. Keep them alive.
Supply them, shelter them, support them so that their mission can be completed with minimum loss in the shortest time. And give them the good words they need when they're so far away. Also, don't endanger them (say, by ignoring good advice from generals) and don't fuckin' break rule number one!

2. Liberals tolerate homosexuality; conservatives do not. Thus, a gay conservative would be heavily pressured to stay in the closet while a gay liberal would be far more likely to come out.

I don't see what the big deal is over Israel. The Muslim fundies hate Israel because it's a Jewish state, right? That problem is easy to solve.
1. Stop calling the land "Israel" and start calling it "Palestine."
2. Repeal any laws based explicitly on Judaism; no one likes a theocracy, no matter what religion it's based on.
3. Stop calling it a "Jewish homeland" or some such thing.
4. Change absolutely nothing meaningful. Just change the names and descriptive terms. There! No "Jewish state," the Muslim fundies can declare victory, so they'll stop bombing and prance around, and the Israelis are still there, in the same country, with the same laws, but with a different name.
Actually, I'd like to float this plan past a few Muslim fundies. If they don't agree to it, they openly admit that they really want to kill all Jews and create a Muslim theocracy, and we can stop worrying about whether Israel is going overboard defending itself.

-to survive
-to get back home in one piece.
-to stop fighting as soon as possible
Bush wants:
-to force our troops to fight, regardless of the risks
-to "win" his personal war, no matter how many soldiers are killed or wounded in the process.
-to declare new wars, so that our troops are permanently kept in danger.
I support our troops. However, support for our troops necessarily requires withholding support for Bush.

I support the troops. I want them to have the best equipment and support available, to help keep them alive and safe. I also very, very badly want to bring them home as soon as possible and for the fighting to stop. I have family and friends in harm's way, and I would like them home and safe.
