Quote# 14387

I disagree with the premise of the geologic column, since there is no evidence for it (it only exists in the text books). Mt St Helens was your death knell, since even some unbelieving geologist scientists admit 90% of all geology was overturned by that event. Now you even have a growing number of evos who admit the evidence for the Grand Canyon supports the theory that it was carved out rapidly by a water breech. So much for the “geologic column” existing there!

Mount St. Helens? Is this a reference to any particular bullshit being passed around?

Amos: The pyroclastic flow was only theoretical until the Mount St. Helens eruption, so it did break new ground for geologists (pun intended!), but this guy is going wildly overboard in his claims of it overturning \"90%\" of mainstream geology/vulcanology or, in particular, of it in any way discrediting either the geologic column or the fossil record. He, or whoever wrote the stuff he has bought into, is lying like a rug to say otherwise.

amos, i think i know what he's on about.

if i recall, some guy took a \"fresh\" sample, and sent it in for the wrong dating method. (i forget which one, but one of the ones with ridiculously large error bars for material not over a few thousand years old).

anyway, it got on the Internet, was quote-minded and now exists as a lesser known creo old-earth \"refutation\".

As so often, the question boils down to: is the author an ignoramus or a liar?

meandering river carved by rapid water flow ? no sorry, doesnt work that way.

what about the high spot through which the canyon was carved. Its either slow uplift or water flows uphill.

For all you idiots trying to claim Mt St Helens disrupted any scientific beliefs:
STOP LYING.

There's been people studying active volcanoes in Hawaiia and Iceland for over a hundred years, Mt St Helens eruption didn't surprise anyone in the field nor did it's results. It was that field that called for evacuation.
