Quote# 14403

I think 1-12 grade could be taught out of the book of Job. I truly do. I am a doctor of metaphysics and feel as if it is my duty to let the world know of the invisible things of life. i.e the spirit. But, God is great and it was Him who created all that is, and he did it with His powers. Our science is only products of His greatness. I want many to read here some excerpts from Job. It is great, smart, and right on the dime, and was more than 4000 years ahead of our scienctific age.

I think 1-12 grade could be taught out of the book of Job.
I think that many others would disagree.
I truly do.
I don't doubt that
I am a doctor of metaphysics and feel as if it is my duty to let the world know of the invisible things of life. i.e the spirit.
How does one become a doctor of metaphysics? Since you are an expert, why don't you provide some shred of evidence that the things of the spirit are real? Meanwhile, why don't you let the experts in education set the curriculum
But, God is great and it was Him who created all that is, and he did it with His powers.
That is an opinion. That is a religion. That is faith. That should not be taught in public schools.
Our science is only products of His greatness.
Science has usually been the product of skeptics working against the precepts of people like you who claim spiritual insight.
I want many to read here some excerpts from Job.
Go ahead. You won't mind if I don't listen. I've read it before. I know how it ends
It is great, smart, and right on the dime, and was more than 4000 years ahead of our scienctific age.
No it is not.

I think you mean \"it was He,\" Doctor.

Mister Spak

\"Our science is only products of His greatness.\"

Does this mean god approves of modern biological science? The one based on the Theory of Evolution?

I also think the book of Job should be taught to all children, just not in public school. If taught to children, maybe half of them would realize, as I did, that it shows just what a cruel and warped concept of a god they are worshipping and what in idiot Job was for staying faithful to this \"benevolent\" monster.

A guy in the desert with boils is advanced science?

Spot on McCulloch. My first thought was \"a doctor in METAphysics!?\"

But yeah, Job teaches that your god is a fucking asshole that tortures people for a bet. A very valuable lesson indeed for any future atheist.

Hmm, I wonder if my atheism is a result of being a Job's Daughter when I was a teen.

Although, the cruelty of Job's god was not stressed in the organization's ritual.

Wow, year 1-12 being taught from the book of Job. Its not that big and doesn't make much sense, that would get real old real fast.

Sandman

So.....you want us to spend 12 years studying a single book of the Bible?

Hope you don't think we will need and doctors or engineers or any other skilled profession, since no American student would be even remotely close to being ready for college after that.

And a doctor of metaphysics? From where for God's sake?

9/1/2006 4:03:01 PM

Libkitten

The Book of Job? So, for grades 1-12 you tell kids to keep believing in God regardless of all the horrible, horrible things that happen to them because he's just proving a point to Satan and allowing you to suffer, but he'll reward you in the end? My guess is a lot of kids would stop believing the minute they graduated and things didn't turn around for them.

\"I am a doctor of metaphysics\"

So, you're unemployed?

9/1/2006 5:23:17 PM

Libkitten, kids are already taught that God, though all-powerful, has no choice but to send his son down to Earth to \"pay\" for man's sins, instead of God just snapping his fingers, and do those kids realize what's going on?

No.

Sigh, I guess not. I guess I'm one of the few that went through my Christian phase where everyone told me I had to believe through my suffering and I'd be rewarded, and then I realized the reward wasn't coming and went, \"Hey. This sucks.\"

9/1/2006 6:12:59 PM

Mr. Turquoise

Libkitten, you're not alone; many of us were told similar things. However, now that you are enlightened, while all the theists are standing around wondering \"WTF!?\", you can happily carry on and make yourself happy. Good luck.

All you're gonna teach from the book of Job is that life is unfair, and we silly little humans don't get to bitch because it's God's will.

I ever meet that sonofabitch, I'm gonna kick Him in the nuts.

Thadd, you're almost as much of a doctor as Kent Hovind.

Feel ashamed. Feel very ashamed.

Yeah, I was never able to combine the two doctrines the cons tell you:

\"God will reward your suffering\" when they want you to shut up and take it, and...

\"God helps theose who help themselves\" when they want you to go away and take care of your own problems.

And then you add in \"Whatever you do for the least of these...you do also to me,\" which seems to imply that when you see other people suffering, you shouldn't tell them to take it or to go take care of it themselves, but rather to get off you ass and help the poor bastard out.

I guess it depends on what mood you're in.

It was more than 4000 years before our scientific age.

Don't little kids have enough nightmares as it is?

If Thadd has a heart attack, he can look for the cure in Job. Me, I'd rather have angioplasty, which, thanks to our \"scientific age\" is now pretty much a 20 minute procedure.

Meanwhile, I'll make sure my kids get a real education and can run circles out of the little retards you edjukate.
