With Christianity, it is hit and mostly misses. The few and far in-between hits keep the deluded believing, unknowing this is not any "miracle" but only the power of the mind. The end objective is atheism. The atheist believes in nothing and disregards anything "supernatural" or of the occult. He/she is a sitting duck just waiting to be manipulated by those who possess occult knowledge and power.

Dayo, with mind bullets, obviously! As in Tenacious D. And Voodoo Dolls, because they work! And some minor spells that make you go "quack" at 6 in the morning. Or whatever it takes to manipulate the bland mind of an atheist.
Up until that last sentence, I was wondering why this post was featured here, since it seemed eminently sensible.
Then I read that last sentence, and I understood. MorninG StaR 21 is every bit as deluded as the fellow delusionals he disparages.
"Speck and Plank" Award, anyone? Or should that be reserved for Christian fundies only?

Christianity is trying to promote atheism with miracles? The post has some problems, even before teh last sentance.
Plus, as anyone who played D&D knows, you get a +4 to your save vs. magic to disbelieve illusions if you have no reason to think that they are real.
"With Christianity, it is hit and mostly misses."
True.
"The few and far in-between hits keep the deluded believing, unknowing this is not any "miracle" but only the power of the mind."
Again, true.
"The end objective is atheism."
The objective of whom? I think atheism is a fine objective, but of whom or what are we speaking?
"The atheist believes in nothing"
I believe in plenty of things. I believe in the love of my family. I believe in charity, in kindness, in honesty, in loyalty, in the value of humor, and the dangers of delusions.
"and disregards anything "supernatural" or of the occult."
Again, true, at least for me.
"He/she is a sitting duck just waiting to be manipulated by those who possess occult knowledge and power."
Wait a minute. Back up the bus. Before you say something like that you really should show that the "occult" is anything more than another brand of delusion and that knowledge of the "occult" bestows on it's possessor any power over non-believers.
Well, I guess atheists believe in "nothing" if the definition of "nothing" is logic, critical thinking, and empric evidence.
I'm not an atheist, but in addition to my own beliefs I also give great credence to the above. So bite me.
He's obvously wrong, because he forgets that we atheists have the power to destroy magic just by observing someone trying to do it. This is why Randi's organization gets to keep it $1,000,000 -- get some atheists in the room and it just throws the voodoo all out of whack.

"It is just the opposite...atheists are the most likely to not be pulled into cults or other bizarre belief systems because they are skeptical; they don't like other people doing their thinking for them. That is more or less the whole point really. Gullible people, or those with low self esteem, are the 'sitting ducks'..the ones with emotional upheaval that causes them to be 'born again' in a dramatic way... only to find that it is a temporary release from their problems.. problems that have not really been addressed appropriately.
If we don't believe in occult knowledge and power, how can we be manipulated by it? The moment somebody says, "these crystals will heal you, man", we say, "Yeah, right... And I've got a bridge to sell you."
"With Christianity, it is hit and mostly misses."
-Say no more! You hit the nail on the head! See, fundies ARE capable of logic, it's just scattered among incoherent babble. The truth lies subconsciously in their brains, but they are either too ignorant or scared to acknowledge it verbally.
Sorry but I miss a point. According to teology, miracle is something unique and extraordinary, which, done in extraordinary circomstances, to manifest God´s power. Other "manifestations" are superstitions and not acknowledge by the church. On the contrary, many Christians misinterpret natural facts due to ignorance, so there is the manipulation.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
