Well, "christophobia" means, roughly, "fear of Christ." Atheists don't have any reason to fear a guy who is either long dead or who never existed, depending on which historian you ask. Christians, however, believe it's very important to fear Christ. Or did you mean hatred of Christians? You couldn't have meant that; it makes no sense. There is no mass hatred of Christians by atheists, although many Christians think atheists hate them because they disagree with them and refuse to be oppressed by them.

The Crusades does demonstrate that faith can cause violence, but it certainly doesn't suggest that all Christians are bad. If you were to stop the self-deprecating and paint with a skinnier brush, then I'd agree with you.

In one crusade, they never even made it there, so they attacked a Christian city, Constantinople, instead. In one crusade, they sent children off to fight! You have to be ignorant, brainwashed, or stupid to tell me with a straight face that the crusades were good.

I live in the US, which is a Christian-majority nation, and I can barely go anywhere without people (Christians) telling me to believe in Allah, yet I'm still an atheist. I'd still be an atheist if it were Muslims telling me to believe in Allah instead of Christians. (Note to the uninformed, like Marshill: "Allah" means God in Arabic. Arabic-speaking Christians call God "Allah." Christians and Muslims worship the same god, but hate each other because they disagree on the details.)

Anyway, this closely resembles the Christian belief that "God made it and God will care for us" is a magic solve-all. It also vaguely resembles the Law of Large Numbers if the odds of life appearing on a planet in any given chemical reaction are one in a million, then it is very probable that life will appear if there are a million such chemical reactions.

The Law of Large Numbers, that one in a million are pretty good odds if you get a million tries is not "faith," it's a simple mathematical law. The idea that life will always appear if it theoretically could is irrational and can only be believed on assumption or "faith," but there aren't any atheists who believe it outside of Little Christian Marshill World. It may be very probable that life will appear in conditions that will accommodate it, but it's not a guarantee.

Here is a brief description of the accuracy of your statement. If anything, this more closely resembles Christian beliefs. They just need a magic caring god who will care for them in an otherwise uncaring universe. Anyway, given the vast number of other planets in the universe, I think it's extremely likely that there is life elsewhere. Multicellular life is distinctly less likely. Complex multicellular life (such as animals) would be even less likely. Intelligent life is less so, and life that is intelligent in a way that we would recognize is less likely still. It is even less likely that there is such life which takes on a form to which "benevolence" can apply, have it applied, and have it apply in the same way. After all, benevolence refers to morality. Moral actions are those which reduce pain and increase pleasure. An alien life form may feel pleasure and pain in completely different situations (or not at all), so the basic moral rules that apply to humans may not apply to the alien life in question. Of course, whether or not there is life elsewhere in the universe is irrelevant since it's impossible to exceed the speed of light, we'd never meet them even if they do exist.

First lets have a look at the Crusades: 175+ years, and estimated 1 million dead.

Now lets look at a couple 20th century atheists: Stalin, Mao Ze Dong, Pol Pot....the 3 of them combined killed nearly 75 million people in a piddly span of 60 years. WOW. Thats 3 atheists alone killing 75 times as many people as all of the entire Crusades. In fact, Mao alone killed upwards of 50 million.

Every sufficiently large group has one person who does something horrible. You wouldn't want me to denounce Christianity because Hitler was a Christian, would you? The fact is, Marshill, that atheists are less likely to commit crimes than theists. Across the world, the more religious a country is, the more crime it has. The US is very religious and has more crime, but the percentage of atheists in prison is far less than the percentage of Christians in prison.

To be very brief, Marshill, your statement is false. Secular governments are far less violent, far more free, and kill far less often than religious ones. Also, keep in mind, a "secular government" which is led by a religious leader who kills in the name of his religion hardly counts against atheism. (That means the deaths in Iraq are religion-inspired.) The fact is that many people have killed because of their religion, but no one has ever killed anyone "in the name of" atheism.

Furthermore, most crime in the United States has nothing to do with religion.

Christians have banned gay marriage, banned stem cell research, restricted women's rights to control their own bodies, and handed churches tax exemptions and the right to break zoning laws, safety standards laws, workers' rights laws, and more. Technically this is "legal" because they're in power and declare whatever they want to be legal, but it's still wrong. Of course, ordinary street criminals are more often Christian than not. As I said above, the more religious a country is, the more crime it has. Atheists are vastly underrepresented in US prisons because we don't commit crimes as often.

I assume you realize that "Cops" is a TV show. TV shows need to maintain favorable ratings in order to stay on the air. If Cops portrayed Christians in a negative light, its ratings would drop. Although I doubt that they'd all be clutching Bibles and wearing Jesus shirts at the time of their arrest, most criminals are Christian, according to prison statistics.

Quite true. The only way to get rid of crime would be to get rid of humans. Getting rid of all religion would certainly reduce crime, though provided it's done peacefully.
