All American citizens have certain rights because they are American citizens. Nobody I know of is trying to strip homosexuals or adulterers or liars of their citizenship, right to vote, right to own property, right to a trial by jury if accused of a crime, or any other legal right given to all adult Americans.

Homosexuals shouldn't have extra rights simply because they're homosexuals. They have no right to marry to each other. Cultures around the world for thousands of years only give men and women the right to marry. Two men shouldn't be allowed to marry each other any more than a man should be able to marry his dog or his sister.

Homosexuals are being denied the right to marry the person that they love and have a legal sexual relationship with.
Since a sexual relationship with your dog or your sister is not legal, it is also not relevant. Unless you wish to argue that homosexuality itself should be made illegal, then you have no logically consistent argument.

Japanese, Greek, Romans, Indians, Bonobos etc. they all accepted male homosexuality (and female as well, but probably only during threesomes since they were \"inferior\" at the time, except with the bonobos). Just because your bible caused all of that to dissapear (apart from the bonobos), doesn't mean that your bible is correct.

But I'm afraid you can't actually use that as an argument for your cause since cultures around the world for thousands of years have also given that right to same sex couples. It just depends on what culture you look at.


And Hande, the standard fundie argument is that homosexuals do have the same rights to marry as heterosexuals. Every gay man has every right to marry any woman he chooses, and a gay woman can marry the man of her choice. See? The exact same rights. The fact that their possition is a smug little pice of Ebola-ridden monkey fecees doesn't seem to bother them in the slightest.

Look: The fact that you have to pass a law saying that a group of people ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO SOMETHING which other people are legally allowed to do means you are taking something away. No one is asking you to allow homosexuals to do something that straight people are not already allowed to do.

They don't have the right to live with someone all their lives, make a home with them, and then when that person dies, be able to continue receiving part of their Social Security benefits, their company's spousal medical insurance coverage or enforce various other rights given to heterosexual spouses (Medicaid rules, bankruptcy, etc.).

Actually, you could argue that banning homosexual marriage is unconstitutional because of gender discrimination. I mean, isn't there some sort of law that you cannot deny someone something solely because of their gender? And if a man wanted to marry another man, isn't his gender the sole reason you would deny him this request?
