Sorry, GILB, but science so far suggests exactly the opposite of what you've said; gaiety seems to be largely an inborn trait. Since that seems to be the case, I'll let you deal with the question of why God would do that -- and of what he must think of those who would persecute people who are as He must have wanted them to be.
