"Did you know King Arthur was real?"
PROTIP: The film "Excalibur" is not a documentary. Neither is the anime series "Fate/Stay Night".
Whilst the Arthurian legend has great cultural power in my country, Britain, even we acknowledge it's just that - a legend.
@Sir P
"If there is a King Arthur, he sure as hell wasn't Scandinavian. Maybe Celtic or Saxon."
The 2004 film "King Arthur" posited the idea that Arthur, or 'Artus' was a Roman officer who stayed in ancient Britain after the Romans left (and thus started the Dark Ages). Despite certain inaccuracies and anachronisms pointed out by historians and scholars of Arthurian legend & myth, they consider it a worthy reworking of the legend, and thus include it in the modern pop cultural archive of everything Arthurian; even with the comic "Camelot 3000" (with great art by "Judge Dredd" artist Brian Bolland), reference to the legend in an episode of "Babylon 5"; also the anime "Fate/Stay Night", with the female incarnation of Arthur, 'Sabre'. And even "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". Speaking of which...
@Moondog
"He probably got it from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Listen, strange women, lying around in ponds, distributing swords, is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power lies vested in a mandate from the masses, not in some farcical aquatic ceremony."
If Rom831 heard about his quoted post here on FSTDT, he'd scream 'Persecution!', as per everyone on Ruptured Retards:
'Help! Help! I'm being repressed!
BLOODY PEASANT!
