[Talking about how the "War of the Worlds" movie is being used to preparing us to be fooled that aliens are behind the upcoming rapture]
<p>WOW! How many people will remember this movie after the rapture happens and say, yup, just like that movie. OH NO! This makes it all the more urgent for us to witness to everyone we know and leave letters for those left behind. They will have so much garbage thrown at them. This is unbelievable.

Much like how in 1898, and again in 1953, when all those people dissapeared, and everyone assumed it was aliens.
Its been a while since I read the book, and haven't the seen the movie, but someone, I don't remember any abductions in WOTW.
Allow me to touch on a point she made about witnessing to everyone:
Okay, dirtbag, here's how it goes down. If someone I know personally tries to witness to me about Christianity I'll be seriously weirded out because only a few of my friends are religious, and none as insanely as you. I'd listen attentively, to be sure (because they're my buds), but I wouldn't convert.
On the other hand, if someone I had no relation with whatsoever tried to randomly convert me, I'd be like as not to beat them senseless. That means you, Kathe.
:D
Here is the problem with witnessing.
I am the product of a Judao-Christian society, a society saturated in the iconography and cosmology of Judao-Christian belief.
I have heard the Judao-Christian story from all angles, almost continuously since I was born.
It is safe to say that I KNOW the Christian story.
How arrogant do you have to be to believe that hearing that story, again, will change my mind, just because it is you telling me it ?
Why do you think that your tired testimony will change my belief when the words of every single person, professional or amateur, who went before you, failed ?
What makes you better than them ?
I do not believe it.
OK, here is the problem with this “theory” (and all the others like it): Who is behind this plan? The people behind it would have to actually believe that the rapture is real, otherwise they wouldn’t bother to make this movie (and all the others about aliens). But if they would believe in the rapture, they would be also believe in the Christian god. If they believe in the rapture and the Christian god, they wouldn’t try to deceive people about them.
It. Just. Makes. No. Sense.
Every single variation I've seen on War Of The Worlds involved not just Alien Tech raging havoc on us but also the point we know they came from Mars in short order. People are massacred all over the world and we know it's an ALIEN attack.
There is NOTHING you can wrap around your Rapture Dogma from it.
Ah, but give it a decade or so n' you'll jam it in, won'tja? The Raptures already a ridiculous unscriptural piece of ill-conceived nonsense, if you can steal plot from somewhere else you will, we've seen it for decades.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
