Harry Potter is just re-packaged new age witchcraft. Christians in general need to open their eyes to world around them and see what really is going on behind the agenda's of Harry Potter. It's all rather sinster like Halloween. Sure you get candy but what are we celebrating is the issue! Let's make a stand---Harry Potter is just candy coated witchcraft, that if not kept in check by the Christian moral majority, can and has run amok when good Christians say nothing.

somebody having trouble with the distinction between FICTION and REALITY again, but then I guess all religious folks have that problem, but most of them only have that problem with their respective holy books.
Harry Potter- evil-doer!
Of course, this means that Voldemort is good, since he is the foil of Harry, killing all those people, etc.
I'm starting to get a feel for your morality.
Well, being a Pagan, I can say that we generally look down at Harry Potter only because it portrays us in a stereotypical light that causes bullshit like this.
I do however applaud Harry Potter for getting kids to read again, until the movies ruined it. Also, on Halloween. Courtesy of www.witchvox.com/holidays/xsamhain.html

The Last Harvest. The Earth nods a sad farewell to the God. We know that He will once again be reborn of the Goddess and the cycle will continue. This is the time of reflection, the time to honor the Ancients who have gone on before us and the time of 'Seeing" (divination). As we contemplate the Wheel of the Year, we come to recognize our own part in the eternal cycle of Life."

Easy, easy. What someone else believes is their own business until they try to push it on other people, go batfuck crazy insane with it (Troy), use it as a club for personal power (Bro. Randy), or are generally hilarious in the nuttiness of their posts. There are plenty of nice religious people out there. In fact, looking at the forums and threads these posts come from, I've noticed a lot of the people criticizing the posters and even sending the quotes to this site are Christians themselves.

Harry Potter counts as a pagan? I was pretty sure his magic worked independent of deity or God-concept, even ones as generalized as the God and the Goddess.

He's not considered Pagan really, but because many pagans also call themselves witches, and as HP is a witch (or at least goes to school with them etc) ignorant people confuse the two, and it leads to people either thinking that all pagans are like the HP, or that its all about Satanism, etc etc etc.
Oh, and most pagans tend to think that their "magick" works separately from deities as well.
Ah, it's a five year old quote, that explains it. I was all weirded out of a second. Everybody knows that The Da Vinci Code was the new Harry Potter, and then The Golden Compass was the new Da Vinci Code. I can't wait for 2008's Work of Fiction That's Attacking The Faith.
I'm writing 2009's. ;)
" Christian moral majority"
Well, let's just use something that :
1) Doesn't exist
2) Is an oxymoron
3) Has never produced anything of value
4) Is loaded with morons
DOOM IS AMUSED BY YOUR CHILDISH INABILITY TO DISTINGUISH FANTASY FROM REALITY.
It is a theory DOOM has developed, that fundies literally can't. They take all fiction as having literal meaning in reality. That is why they believe their book of lies and why thy won't be SILENT on such literature as Harry Potter (which, DOOM is pleased to note, lasted for many more years after this imbecile made their post)
Oh no, you've found the hidden agenda of witchcraft in HP! What gave it away? The constant describing of people as "witches" and "wizards", or the classes in different kinds of magic?
The point is, it's not packaged at all, stupid, it's there, clear as day, on the pages. What is a bit hidden is the Christian allegory. Harry even dies and comes back to life.
There are very few "good Christians" in my country, but I can't see any amok-running here anyway. Mostly, the books and movies have fallen into the same oblivion that grips most books and movies sooner or later.
"Moral majority"? Is that Newt Gingrich, who divorced his wife when she was suffering from cancer, or Ted Haggard, who spouted hatred against gay people only to be found embracing a male, or Dubbya, who told lies about WMDs in Iraq and more or less bought his first election?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
