[In response to a poll asking: Would you comitt genocide if God ordered you to? One poster writes 'I'd tell Him to send me to hell, but that I couldn't kill a baby for the sins of its parents. To me personally, God has to conform to morality, not vice versa. I don't worship Him because He is omnipotent.']

You're suppose to worship God because He is King and is Lord of our lives. In any kingdom, whenever a decree of the King is ignored or disobeyed there are consequence's.

You don't chose why you worship Him, He choses for you why you shpould worship Him!

Well, have you ever heard God saying you to do something?, have you ever considered that maybe what it´s called "the word of God" is maybe the opportunistic attitude of guys who wanted to gain kudos?. If you sticked less to the OT and more on the NT, you´d realise that one true God can´t in one statement say kill all the people and save only the virgins and in other say, through Jesus, the one who lives through the sword, thus through sword will be killed or curse the Zebedebs for suggesting to reduce to the ground an entire village. He can´t either to be so gentle with a syrio-Greek woman or a Roman legion soldier who ask him for help. This contradiction is enough to show you that the Bible is not inerrant, and from there onward, you have to reconsider in which circunstances you have come to believe that God is the lord and so on.
You can´t justify your own actions through a God you can´t see if you don´t show a higher moral standard, as God supposedly made as to his image and whom we aspire to be as perfect. In that case, as Jesus says in Matthew, what´s the merit?, I would worship them Odin or Zeus or the Mythras.

I've been thinking about this comment for a while. Should God be held to human standards of morality?
Morality itself tends to fluctuate in time, and who is to say that generations from now, our highest ideals won't be viewed as obscene? Afterall, at one point the KKK, slavery, genocide and torture were all viewed as acceptable. They still are in parts of the world. So by what morals and during what time period would one hold an immortal being to? Another argument against holding God to human morals is that It isn't human. We don't hold animals to human ethical standards. If we did, we would have to arrest them for murder, public indecency, rape, incest and a whole gamut of other immmoral crimes. Since God isn't a human being, holding him to our standards is likewise pointless. So I suppose in retrospect, if God ordered me to commit genocide, I probably would. I would have to be reasonably assured that is was actually God. But if so convinced, I would have no moral problem with it. Like my Mother says :"Son, I brought you into this world, don't think I won't take you out."

The COs of the Navy SEALs, Spetsnaz, and SAS meet, and talk about whose are the hardest men.

The Navy SEAL officer says to one of his troops: 'Jump off that skyscraper!' 'SIR, YES SIR!' and he does so, to his death.

The Spetsnaz officer says to one of his: 'Jump off that building into the rotors of that Mil MI-24 Hind whilst they're at full revs!' 'DA TOVARICH!' and he does so, getting sliced up in the process.

The SAS officer says to one of his 'I order you to do a HALO jump from 45,000 feet without a parachute!' 'Fuck off, sir!' is the reply.

The Navy SEALs & Spetsnaz officers shoot themselves in shame. X3
