Quote# 17930

Today, I was in a heated debate on MSN Chat about the connection between atheism and crime. Simply by observing atheists in action, one can easily see that atheists tend to be violent sociopaths, but if I hated atheists simply on that fact, I would have been criticized as being "prejudice" and "bigoted." I would have to prove to them that atheism is accountable for all crimes on Earth. I have finally found the connection

As everybody knows, people are born not believing in God. Therefore, they are born atheists, which means "no God." Knowing that, common sense suggests that all criminals were originally atheists. That includes the most heinous criminals, such as Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Tupac Shakur. Criminals who commit religious crimes against Christianity and other proper religions tend to empathize with other anti-Christian atheists (pardon the redundancy). As for criminals who commit crimes against atheists in the name of Christianity, like homophobes, they are simply trying to repress their atheistic/homosexual tendancies, but rather than act Christian about it, they take it to an atheistic extreme.

All criminals have been atheists at one time in their lives? I don't know about you, but if there was ever a reason to outlaw atheism and other non-Christian religions, this is it.

Nope, sorry. Crime rates among athiests, and other non-Christians, are staggeringly dwarfed in the United States by those among Christians.

Also...you're listing Tupac with Hitler and Stalin? What the fuck?

Odd, I was far more violent as a christian. The sociopathy has even calmed down a bit, and I know exactly why.

As a stupid kid I was convinced that I would be forgiven for doing it at a request and they were going to be punished anyway.

Now, seeing no proof of god or an afterlife I realize that all anyone has is their time here, and as we share that limitation I shouldn't do anything to them, not even for fear of retribution but because why should I waste some of their small portion of time on my own stupid hang ups?

I still have times where I question not using people as a personal chew toy, but they're typically people who are just like I used to be.

Hitler, Stalin, and ....Tupac? Serioulsy, Tupac? You really claiming Tupac is one of the greatest criminals in human history?

Careful, your racism is showing.

Hadanelith

Tupac's 'music' may have been criminally bad, but that doesn't really put him on the same plane as Hitler and Stalin.

\"Today, I was in a heated debate on MSN Chat about the connection between atheism and crime. Simply by observing atheists in action, one can easily see that atheists tend to be violent sociopaths, but if I hated atheists simply on that fact, I would have been criticized as being 'prejudice' and 'bigoted.'\"

If you would examine the statisics, you would find that Xians are over-represented in the U.S. prison population when compared to the general population, whereas atheists are under-represented.

Allow me to happily call you prejudice and bigoted as well as ignorant and arrogant.

\"I would have to prove to them that atheism is accountable for all crimes on Earth.\"

You're off to a remarkably poor start on that.

\"I have finally found the connection\"

Sure you have.

\"As everybody knows, people are born not believing in God.\"

Though I am generally opposed to any assertion that starts with \"as everybody knows,\" your point here is true. No one is born believing in anything.

\"Therefore, they are born atheists, which means \"no God.'\"

Essentially. I would say \"without a god.\"

\"Knowing that, common sense suggests that all criminals were originally atheists.\"

Irrelevant, though true.

\"That includes the most heinous criminals, such as Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Tupac Shakur.\"

As those persons were all once new-born infants, yes, that is true, but it is IRRELEVANT.

\"Criminals who commit religious crimes against Christianity and other proper religions tend to empathize with other anti-Christian atheists (pardon the redundancy).\"

Again, what you say is true, but irrelevant. People who commit crimes against Xianity, if they commit those crimes BECAUSE the targets are Xian, do tend to empathize with anti-Xians almost by definition. So what? I do not claim that all atheists behave perfectly. Equally, the point could be made that almost all crime against atheists is committed by Xians.

Also, who gets to decide what a \"proper\" religion is?

\"As for criminals who commit crimes against atheists in the name of Christianity, like homophobes, they are simply trying to repress their atheistic/homosexual tendancies, but rather than act Christian about it, they take it to an atheistic extreme.\"

No, they are taking their feelings to a XIAN extreme. Perhaps we could agree that those who resort to criminal behavior because to their religion or lack of religion are extremists, and not good representatives of either side of the theist/atheist question.

\"All criminals have been atheists at one time in their lives?\"

Again, that is utterly irrelevant.

\"I don't know about you, but if there was ever a reason to outlaw atheism and other non-Christian religions, this is it.\"

Now that's good thinking, dimwit. By your own \"logic\" we would have to outlaw infants.

Not only are you one of the stupidest persons I've seen featured here, but you're also and arrogant asshole.

Aside from the fact that listing Tupac in his list of criminals most heinous makes him sound a bit trollish, outlawing atheism, by his own logic, would mean the end of the human race.

Logicall fallacy at its best. EVERYBODY HAS BEEN A BABY AND AN ATHEIST, so even you have been an atheist, MAN. I am not surprised at all people give you the brush off in MSN.

John

As everybody knows, people are born not believing in God. Therefore, they are born atheists, which means \"no God.\" Knowing that, common sense suggests that all criminals were originally atheists.

By that logic, Noah, Moses, Abraham, the virgin Mary, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were originally atheist, too. What's the point? If he's trying to say that atheists are more likely to be criminals, the fact that everyone is born an atheist is irrelevant.

Atheists are less likely to be criminals than those professing to be Christians. That's been shown by numerous studies. If you want to outlaw certain beliefs in order to prevent crime, you could make a better case for outlawing Christians. For example, Japan has a much lower crime rate than the US, and it has very few Christians.

All criminals have been atheists at one time in their lives? I don't know about you, but if there was ever a reason to outlaw atheism and other non-Christian religions, this is it.

Please, oh, please, be a troll. Nobody can be this stupid, can they? By the same argument, all criminals were once children, so we should also outlaw children!

Uh...why is this on here? It's a obvious fake. The reference to Tupac makes that clear. I voted a 1.

Jaded_Revenge

Nope, he has to be a troll.
He's practically saying that all criminals where babies at some point, so we should outlaw babies (an abomination unto Nugan!!!)

Anyway, a heated MSN argument?

Tupac Shakur?

So this means since EVERYONE is born an atheist and you want to outlaw it you're for abortion?

12/8/2006 10:38:05 PM

So I guess we should outlaw people being born, or at least arrest all newborns because they are atheists?

I... Can't believe he put Tupac in the same category with Hitler snd Stalin. And wait, how did he go from \"all people are borne atheists\" to \"all criminal are atheists\"??

I am not even an atheist myself, but I think this guy has been licking toads or something. Either that, or he lives in his own little fantasy world.

75% of the US population professes to be Christian. 10% professes to be atheist.

75% of the US prison population is Christian. 0.2% of the prison population professes to be atheist.

As of 2004, the prison population was 1.5 million. (source: US Department of Justice)

The US population at that time was ~300 million. That means five tenths of a percent (0.5%) of the US was in prison.

There were ~ 225 million Christians in the US at the time. That means that 1,125,000 Christians were in prison.

There were 30 million atheists in the nation at the time. The prison population consisted of only 3,000 atheists. That's one tenth of a percent of atheists incarcerated.

Arithmatic has just shown that, going off statistics, a Christian is five times more likely to be put in prison vs. an atheist.

And, if your beliefs are correct, why not apply your logic even further? If we all have souls, we all must have known of God before birth. This means everyone would have been Christian before being atheist. We can conclude that Christianity is the greatest source of all things that are unpleasant. That's your logic, not mine. And it is utterly flawed.

Find some evidence to your claim come back. Since there is no evidence to support your claim you should go back to living under a rock. Also almost every prison documentary on msnbc has had a segment about religion(specifically Christianity) in which it shows the devotion to that religion by the imates.

Adrian

but if there was ever a reason to outlaw atheism

Not only is it unconstitutional, but you fail at logic, since you claim that everyone is born an athiest. Is the only way to solve this problem is to outlaw pregnancies too?

12/9/2006 1:21:43 AM

Madame Scarlet

So... arrest all babies?

Oh my fucking God!

I nominate this for a Dogg-win.

As a thread progresses, the probability that a moral comparison will be made to dead rappers approaches 1.

-And on one hand he admits everyone is born an atheist, then wants to outlaw it. What a fuckwit!

Oh and Napoleon - 10% to 0.2% is 50 times.
