Quote# 19893

The Hebrew tongue from my understanding is read backwards ie right to left. Now anything backwards is always a negative thing, and not a positive. For those who think Hebrew is the language of heaven lets search the scriptures and see what they say.

The British drive on the "wrong" side of the road, so they must be evil too.

"The KJV-only people seem to believe that the KJV was the last and best of God's word to mankind. It's like Islam, but with the KJV translators replacing Mohammed as the prophet."
@John: It's very much like Islam. The Qur'an is the word of God, and any time I hear an imam reciting it on shortwave, it's always in Arabic. That's because when God gave the Qur'an to Mohammed, it was in Arabic, and to recite it in any other language is a blasphemy. That said, these two groups are surprisingly alike, and one would think they would get along quite well.

@TM: Elizabethian English is what we call English from that time. You're right in that the Elizabethian Age was over by King James (of course), but I doubt the language had changed so much over that time. But maybe it is still better to say Jacobean English (as in; the Jacobean Age; the Age of King James/Jacob)

Typical fundie-think. They have an irrational obsession with putting everything (yes, everything) in categories of "good" and "evil".

Reality is much more mundane:

Writing systems going from right to left most probably have their origin in chiseling in stone. Working with chisel&hammer is much more easy when you work from right to left.

Writing systems going from left to right have their origin in writing with a pen on parchment/paper etc, because here the direction from left to right is more easy to do.

Thats all, folks. There is nothing "metaphysically evil" in the hebrew language. It's just a language, okay?

But the Hebrews would likely feel you're reading things backwards. And their holy book is what yours is based on. So who would have more grounds here, hmmm...?
