You can’t tell the age of a tree by it’s rings. The tree doesn’t know how long a year is.

Deciduous trees follow the cycle of the seasons. The cycle of the seasons happens annually. That means one cycle of the seasons is the length of one year.
How is that hard to understand?

My god, this person can't possibly be--
4/26/2007 1:31:26 AM
*Headdesk* to the nth power.
4/26/2007 4:57:38 AM
If you cut a fundy in half can you tell his age by counting the rings?
4/26/2007 5:58:21 AM
It is entirely too easy to find food here.

\"You can’t tell the age of a tree by it’s rings. \"
Not to mention a bathtub.
Hope your death is long and painful.

HAHAHHAHAHA!! That just made getting out of bed this morning worthwhile. What must it be like to have a mind like that?
4/26/2007 8:47:16 AM
how the fuck can someone be so fucking stupid?!
4/26/2007 9:06:18 AM
People as stupid as this shouldn't be able to operate a computer. Literally.
4/26/2007 9:10:17 AM
How do you know how much a tree knows, hmmm?
4/26/2007 12:27:25 PM
I'm sure the stupidity of these people is catching because I think my brain just exploded.
4/26/2007 1:02:20 PM
I can't tell which season it is, although the trees do seem to be budding. I wonder if there is any relationship one could make?
4/29/2007 9:07:40 PM
I have a student that stupid. He thinks he goes to \"collage.\"
4/30/2007 3:42:27 AM
I didn't believe people this stupid existed. Seriously, are these people brain dead or did they pay absolutely no attention in school whatsoever?
4/30/2007 4:13:36 AM
No, the tree doesn't
, but the color of the wood deposited depends on the growth patterns over the course of a year. It doesn't need to \"know\".

You can't ask Christians about the Bible, they don't know what's in there.
1/11/2008 5:49:01 AM
Please tell me that someone in that thread called the OP on this.
1/11/2008 5:51:15 AM
the Good Witch
that's right, it doesn't.
what the rings show are growth rings. a tree grows more in spring, and gets thicker in layers. you can count the growth rings to see how many years old the tree is.

That is one of the most idiotic things I've ever heard.
