[Replying to 'the resurrection isn't evidence - it's a claim] So i guess you don't believe that Columbus discovered America? Cause afterall, the only evidence is written account.

Written accounts along with whatever loot (treasure, food, clothes, prisoners) Columbus's men brought back to Europe.
Even if they only brought back info, other explorers verified for themselves in a very awful method, conquest.
There are several independent written records about it, plus the loot and later confirmations, when others sailed after his directions. Amerigo among them.
And, Columbus wasn't the first one to discover it.
You have only one book, with four different stories, written down over hundred years after the incident. No other sources anywhere say anything about some Jewish guy walking around performing miracles, being executed and coming back from the dead.
"the only evidence is written account. "
Not to mention Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas ....
Over 15000 years ago: The first nation natives
Then came the white man
Much later, Lief Ericson and company
Then came the other white men
Colinization of the Americas was rapid since 1495 or so
worked out well for the white man too
Well, there's that and the accurate accounts of Arawaks being brought back, the fact that there is, in fact, a landmass here, the records of the funding for the voyage, as well as the subsequent expeditions to the new world...
Leaving aside who did or didn't discover America, the fact that we all know that America exists is rather telling evidence. Something that is somewhat totally lacking for the resurrection.
An empty grave doesn't count for much. I might as well say there was a pink unicorn in my garden yesterday but he's gone now.
You idiots have to stop this "Jesus is as well documented as Columbus, Washington, Lincoln etc". Columbuses journey is much better documented,as is his funding source, his points of call back and forth and the resulting colonization since. Everytime you people pull this gimic out you use a person who is established as existing through multiple sources from many countries.
The truth is this:
Jesus is as well documented as having existed as Moses or Peter Pan.
We have just about a billion people currently residing upon the Americas. If you mean the discovery, itself then we have the maps and journals from the voyage which we can compare to the areas they explored. He didn't find the place first but he did find them. Not to mention him saying "look what I found", other explorers saying "really? Let me see for myself"--PEER REVIEW, in other words--and the land being where he said he found it when they made their own voyages.
No, I believe that Columbus was stranded on an island, and that Natives discovered him.
The Bible is the ONLY written account. With the discovery of America there are lots of letters from different people, captains' logs, diaries, DNA evidence, etc.
The history books and accounts of other nations, including active rulers Rome, have no records of Jesus. About 40 to 70 AD the Scriptural accounts were written and the historical records began to note a rising cult called Christianity.
That's it bitch, that's the beginning of it. A STORY.
Confused?
