... and give all their things away and follow him? Sounds to me like they'd be poorer! (Then again, it's not like most fundies - or mainstream Christians, for that matter - follow that particular verse.)
Fuck you is the first thought that comes to mind
The next thought that comes to mind is did not Jesus COMMAND you to sell all of your possessions and give it to the poor?
Christianity has as much to do with Christ, as Dogma has to do with poodles.
Oh, go fuck yourself. The Bible Belt has the poorest most assisted states in America. Try something else you lying piece of shit. Born to money and a follower of prosperity gospel white trash probably. Tell me, What are your kids gonna have when you've blown the inherintence on showing off?
Yeah, I'm reaching but Live4Jesus has led a sheltered life to suggest such shit.

I need to fix that wall.
"And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head."
Luke 9:58 (KJV)
- So, if Jesus had been a better Christian, he wouldn't have been poor, right?
It's not the poor that need to learn to listen to Jesus, stupid, but the rich. Jesus said, clearly and uneqivocally, that his followers should sell their possessions and give the money to the poor.
Have you done that, yet, Live4Jesus? Why not? Have YOU not learned to listen to Jesus?
There's a "Blessed are the poor in spirit" clause somewhere is there?
If this were taken literally, I can understand how this is here. But if this refers to the spiritually poor who find fulfilment in Christianity, that's a completely different matter.
@ Sharon Young
The "in spirit" addendum is found in Matthew. In Luke it specifically says "blessed are the poor." Clearly the authors of Matthew and Luke had different messages for their respective audiences. Its not a contradiction though.
At least that's what I'm told.
@David D.G.: The Mexicans are predominantly Catholics, a.k.a. "Godless heathens". You know what fundies are like: they think a real Christian is someone who goes to the same church as they do. If that comprises 50 people, then it means there are only 50 Real Christians(TM) in the world.
I recall that Jesus fellow in the Bible asking his followers to give their stuff to the poor and something about camels, needles and rich dudes, but you are obviously talking about the extra biblical Republican Jesus.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
