Please,even if someone of that name was makeing a pest of himself around that time what does it matter. Mark was written some 40 years after he died. Just because your holy babble says it doesn't mean it happened the way these writers claim. Even if they knew him when he was active {which I dought} memory is a poor thing to trust, just ask any lawyer.

I don't believe in scientists per se, I do believe in things that has been proven to the point of a scientific theory.

I've got a gnawing feeling that this is in response to the crap the History Networks been running lately. A lot of their recent shows are taking Biblical stories and treating them as real history. I've watched a few and the speculation of 'experts' is off the charts. No evidence just assertions like "this rubble proves this is probably knocked down by a great noise, Jericho's horn would certainly fit the bill"

No historical evidence of Jesus' existence. Not ONE historian at that time wrote anything about Jesus, had he existed he would be documented considering he supposedly shook up Roman empire and caused such an uproar. The Romans documented everything, this would have been documented for sure.
Also the earliest text in the bible was written between 60 and 120 years after his supposed "death/resurrection/ascension". Considering he isn't documented anywhere other than religious texts written many years after his death there is no reason to assume such a man existed.
I never said he didn't exist, although I do say he is more myth than man. Certainly no rational reason to believe he is a god either.
Btw, "FACTS" does not mean what you think it means.

There are hypotheses that Jesus might have been a real person. There is no proof nor any historical facts.
I can believe that there was an hippy drunkster going to parties with his all-male mates in the desert, or going all hippy over local shepards, saying to them to be nice to each other, and thinking he was the son of god.
My problem, apart for there is certainly nothing as god, is that people make that man into an excuse to super-dickery and narrow-mindness.

basically the same deal. toss in a couple thousand years of mistranslation and misinterpretation, and add a few blatant lies, simmer over an open fire of burning books and intolerance, and you've got a full blown religion.
